Look at things when you pick them up. You will know when you pick up runes, learn lore, know when you get things for crafting. Go through your inventory. Look at weapons, what stats they need, how heavy armor is. A lot of rpgs this stuff doesn't always matter as much but in souls games it does. Always pay attention to these things. Be inquisitive about the menus. Don't be in such a hurry. I find most people that I've helped with this game are used to games just telling them everything so they don't look through things and are confused because souls games do not. You have to be inquisitive about everything. This is a great game and I hope everyone enjoys it!!! Great tips on here.

I am new to KZbin. I make videos on books and video games. Let me just say I absolutely love your style. You are honest. Laid back. And just down to earth. In the midst of the chaotic and high energy youtubers, this was a breathe of fresh air. I recently finished Witcher 3. (took me 2 years). Now As of tonight I have returned to Elden Ring in hopes of conquering the game! Your video popped up on my feed and it couldn't have been more perfectly timed! Your advice is so helpful and not overly complex. I really appreciate it and I look forward to watching your play through of Elden Ring!

Jesse, honestly, you’re not just directionally challenged - you’re completely lost. The whole time, you don’t have a clue what you're doing, and let’s be real, you wouldn’t know how to do it right if the game literally told you. Your camera’s always stuck staring at a wall, and you’re so clueless you can't even see what's going on around you. Even if you could, it wouldn't make a difference - the enemies are going to wipe the floor with you regardless of what’s on your screen. You’re so busy pressing random buttons trying to move or aim, you haven’t even figured out that you’re basically a walking target, bumping into walls and getting lost like it’s your job. If your camera wasn’t as useless as your ability to play, maybe you’d have a chance, but nope - you’re just spinning around in circles like a hamster on a wheel, only to get wrecked by things you didn’t even know existed. Honestly, Jesse, maybe it’s time to just quit before you get even more embarrassed and end up throwing the controller through the screen. 😏

Enjoying the play-through. You're doing great. Going straight to the castle is a hard route to take & you are kinda breezing through it. It's impressive, there is a lot more of the starter area & the area south of that. That is where most people level up before castle. But this is Elden Ring & struggling with your own path is what makes it fun. It's a good idea to talk to people until there dialogue starts repeating. Then they often move on or do other things elsewhere & their quests can continue. That's pretty much the only real thing i think chat didn't mention of importance. Good luck !!

I turn 30 in the beginning of next year and I also feel like I've wasted my 20s... I have just studied, finished almost 3 degrees now without getting a solid job (just barista and short jobs) or being able to move out. I also feel like I haven't lived enough etc... But I finish my 3rd degree in 1 month and I'm set now that I will get a job in that field and then finally being able to move out. And I'm going to move to a bigger city so that I have access to pretty much everything. No more excuses like "it's too far away" etc. If I really think, of course I have done stuff and achieved stuff in my 20s! But it still didn't turn out the way I wanted and because I jumped from degree to degree not really knowing what to do I just feel like I haven't gotten anywhere. And I still wish my life would've been more social so I'm going to work on that.

As someone who has feel cowardlly my whole life, the last few months working on my thesis project have been in an emotional roller coaster . I felt miserable,convinced that I didnt deserve to be there., unable to recognize everything I had learnt in my degree. The idea of presenting my work terrified me, I feared that no one would like it.I had to present it with confidence , as if I truly believed in its potential , but taht was very difficult because deep down, I didnt believe it. I forced myself to show confidence and talk about my project as if it could change the world, only to later overthink every word, and feeling a fraud and questioning how anyone could take me seriously. It was a very depressing and stressful time. I felt like giving up mst of the time, but I didnt . It wasnt out of bravery, y simply knew I couldnt allow my self another failure. So I told mysef just do it and stop criticizing yourself at evry step. When I started to judge me , I would say NO and distract myself with other things. I spent time with my family or sought to connect with something bigger than myself to realize that there was no need to pressure my self too much, that i am just a dot comparing to everything. I wanted to do it because I had already overcome too much to give up. I told myself its okay not to feel up to par with your classmates . You dont have to practice after you finish your degree if you dont want to , it doesnt matter the grade or whether you pass or not . Last week I graduated, and what a relief I felt. I didnt feel completely happy or proud, but I kept my word, and that was already a great step, something that wouldnt torment me anymore.. I learned that its important to bring things to a close and do something else before deciding whether to give up or not. I have given up many times in my life , and thats okay , in thse moments, i didnt have the tools that i have now and couldnt have reach what i wanted because I didnt believe in myself. My word held no value. I know I may not have many big achievements for society, but I have small ones stores to myself, and i am trying to f**k what society tells as success at my age.

This has been fun ! I'll throw down some tips! 1. You can craft bone daggers fairly easy & they draw those pesky birds out. Those bone daggers are great for grabbing the attention of enemies & drawing them away from crowds. 2. If you find the castle a little challenging (although you seem to be doing great!) you can head east from where you started & all the way down south. Those areas are easier. 3. On the unexplored map areas you'll see a little pillar looking thing. That's where the map fragment is for that area. You really are doing great though !

Hey there, I'm new to elden ring and I'm wondering what kind of build I should go for. Just to warn you I accidentally did some things I wasn't supposed to like killing the sleeping dragon, and selling the item that looks like an eye in the castle next to the big white sleeping dragon. I chose samurai for my build and I just don't know what armour to get. I have the nagakiba with the bloodflame thingy on it. I just need better armour more health an help with my stat points. Is there any way you can help me or give me the certain guides and build instructions? Thank you!
@Jessieologygg
@Jessieologygg 10 күн бұрын
I am no expert at builds! I had a lot of "whoops" moments too and went backwards through some areas. I have a friend I co-op with and hopefully I can get some better advice from them and create a guide soon. I tried a samurai build the first time I opened the game and found the range attack with the arrows to be so difficult to aim, so I opted for something simpler like a Vagabond. What helped me a lot was just farming runes in the beginning, finding some easy enemies and saving up to level up your hp by spending runes on the Vigor stat. You won't have to worry about leveling up weapons and armor until later, I heard that you should wait until you find a weapon you really like, and then spend the runes on upgrading it. I'm still a beginner too so I hope this helps and maybe someone can reply who has more knowledge than me!

I have played this game a lot. Like a lot a lot. I have some advise, which I wish I had as a beginner in ER, since I began my gaming journey with Elden Ring. 1. Most important thing imo is following your nose. Elden Ring expects you to be like a Roomba. You go in a particular direction till u hit a wall (usually a tough boss), and u turn around and explore the areas b4 the boss. 2. Map Markers are marked by obelisks, even in the map b4 discovery. Mark them and run to get them first. 3. For your first playthrough, I would suggest a Melee build, if u dont want to look stuff up. This is because while spells are busted, melee weapons are often easier to build around. Like casting tools have ranges where different tools are more viable, some tools buff some spells etc. These are rarer in Melee weapons. A very decent melee build can be thrown together using a weapon, minimum stats to wield it, and pump Vigor and Endurance. Heavy armour. Defense focused talismans and great runes. 4. Do not shrink away from using certain mechanics cause they are underpowered. A lot of mechanics in Elden Ring are very niche, and find use in very particular sections. 5. (Especially true for beginners) Use a Medium Shield and Guard Counter. Shields get less powerful in the endgame, since their guarding strength barely changes, so its OP early game and becomes increasingly underwhelming late game, still very powerful late into the game. Above all have fun. I wish you a merry journey in the Lands Between, Tarnished.

To upgrade weapons, you also need the smithing stones or somber smithing stones. Depending on the weapon as to which you will need. I love watching new players and I have seen a few get confused about the smithing stones they are picking up. And I agree that farming is very important. You don't necessarily have to farm like I did, I didn't beat the game until I hit about 1k hours because I farmed and upgraded everything, but it does help with leveling up.

As an experienced player my thoughts on your things: 1) Don't put that much weight on starting class, it makes next to no difference. It's a few starting stats and starting equipment, you can still level whatever you want and obtain every single item in the game. Whatever your starting class is, in 2 hours of gameplay you can be whatever else you wanna be. (I mean having a general idea of what build you wanna go for would be useful, but not a requirement) 2) Yeah absolutely agreed, tutorials are important. And dying and learning is a key factor so dying shouldn't be a discouragement. 3) I mean you say no one told me to pick up the runes (but there's a tutorial message which explains how dying works :P ) 4) Yeah it's useful to explore and kill people. But you shouldn't really ever need to "farm" (that being kill the same enemies over and over) as long as you do proper exploration and you don't run past 90% of the enemies (as I see a lot of beginners do) you would always be pretty overleveled anyways. As for using the golden rune items, agreed that's useful to know, but to expand on that I think it goes for every item you pick up open your inventory and see what it does. And a side note don't use them as son as you collect them, there's no point in them being at risk if you die, keep them to level next time you're at a grace (if you wanna math it out you can also make sure to not use more then needed so you don't put runes at risk) or if you have 80-90% of a level and you're going to a hard boss or into a dungeon you can keep some runes to pop then and level so you're going in with nothing to lose (and at a higher level). 5) Agreed about the controls, I personally haven't needed to remap them, but of course that's up to preference. And yeah as someone who is very comfortable both with keyboard and with controller, 100% agreed game is significantly better with controller. 6) You needn't really cheat to get the map, if you open the map, there's a pillar thing which shows the actual map piece location. 7) Yup, upgrades are useful. And yeah a bow isn't really meant as a main weapon (don't get me wrong one can absolutely do a bow only run or whatever, but that's more of a challenge run or whatever) it's more to draw agro or whatever. 8) Yup, throwing knifes are useful, but a bow works too as you don't need to manually aim it and it also shoots at whatever you're targeting. 9) Yup merchants could be useful, check the cookbooks (you can see what they allow crafting if you read their description). 10) Yup graces are a useful thing XD, and IDK if you need to cheat to find them, the game is pretty generous with them, so just explore and you should naturally find them. (and as mentioned if you explore you should naturally be at a good level, so farming isn't really needed)

600+ hours in and bored. Relieved that The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC added quite a lot to the experience. I began close to the release. Don't feel bad about rune farming. 1/3 of my hours were spent doing this. 'Caeled' rune farming, and it is great for early on. You can stand back and collect runes while the warriors, giant dogs, and death birds battle. As you improve the rune farming locations develop from being able to farm 1000 runes in an hour to 2 million+ runes an hour. Best tip from when I was a beginner, don't hug the lady in the round table hold.

Hot girls who talk about being a "nerd" wayyyyyy after it's cool are out of touch. Try something that actually gets you ridicule, not something that people who actually got shunned for their passions because they were natural outsiders, had stolen from them by those seeking profit. Playing D&D, being into games and comics and toys is so yesterday. Reading Chaucer and actually knowing math are the new black. Being a cute girl never goes out of fashion, and is never uncool.

Branching off of reading all of the tutorial, read everything you find in the game. It is super important if you want to follow the story and quests. Even basic functions of certain things that are overlooked by many can be found in item descriptions. I’ve watched too many people be lost in a quest or have no clue about lore, when that information is easily found in items, spells, spirit ashes, and dialogue. This goes for all Soulsborne games. Hidetaka Miyazaki was inspired by many older games when he was put in charge of directing Demon’s Souls, and that inspiration can be found in many of his games after that. Some of the titles that inspired him include games like King’s Field, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus. Obviously the game play is way different, but he liked the idea of environmental and indirect story telling. Soulsborne stories and quests are told through item descriptions, limited dialogue, and the world design. I understand everyone has different play styles and some don’t like to read/think to read. It is truly helpful to do so in this game though, and it’s not like it’s a lot to read in these descriptions. It can change your understanding of everything going on.
