Due to a number of scandals within the team regarding women. Two pilots were dismissed and there was no time to train new ones so for one year there was 7, then the next year 8, and in 2024 back to 9 again!

This aspect of racing has sadly gone with the advent of the rollers - I miss this aspect of racing, particularly when making videos.

I totally agree . . . and they are so conspicuous on the old bikes, making the machines look AND sound unauthentic.

A few years go there were loads of interesting 500 2 strokes at the Donington meeting from abroad, but recently the foreigners seem to be staying away????

@@2wheels2strokes4ever Seems to be the case sadly, you still get a few handfuls, in my opinion the real gem was the Classic Endurance Legends grid at Brands GP, same weekend as CRMC Donington this year, seeing modern and classic bikes, headlights on round the GP was an amazing sight for 3 hours

It's 297cc I believe, which in it's day would race in the 350cc class - but there was a 250cc version also.

I thought George Beale only built 6 250 sixes

@@grahamsymons1513 He has built 10 297cc bikes as shown in the video, plus several other types (Benelli, Matchless and Brough Superior).

I don't take photos but generally you need loads of lens power - take them all. I believe it is possible to watch at the end of the pier which would be closer to the planes?

@@2wheels2strokes4ever Oh, I recognized the famous helmet/leathers and a "little thickness" now, (we are not young anymore lol!) and assumed it was John. Who won that race? The fellow on that Seeley g50 was bit aggressive and shoved his way past. It was unclear if Cronshaw was the winner or runner-up! Great vid though. I wish our race meetings were just as full.

When all the classic bikes look modern it tells you that you yourself are getting old!!! Sobering.

Sadly it was the very last Pickering Steam Rally - never to be repeated.
