21 years ago we went with moissanite. We used money to buy home and cars. 21 years later I needed a new setting, as years of pool chemicals damaged my setting. Silver is much too soft a metal and will not hold up the test of time. Prongs WILL get loose if the ring is worn daily. If you like your stone, whatever you choose, then opt for a stronger metal.

My fiance was not in a place to blow money and did not want to propose at first because he felt he could only do it with a diamond white gold ring. I let him know that it honestly doesn't mean anything to me, I would rather that money go to a downpayment for a place to live or travel etc. He got a $200 sterling silver engagement ring with a white sapphire as the stone and honestly I love it! I personally don't see much difference between the sapphire and a diamond but I may just be uncultured 🤣
