Greetings, thanks for a very nice video. I’m a Tata Nkisi and I follow up with Nkisi Nkond. I was born in the Caribbean and some of my ancestors were bantú . Very fascinating history . Thanks again for the video.

Hello friends, I am on a spiritual journey to redefine my spirituality. I was referred to the Nkisi medicine by a High Priestess because she says I have a connection from a former life. I want to be very careful not to venture down a dark spiritual road. Can any of you speak to if this statue or figure is of the light or darkness?
@karlbarnes1629 ай бұрын
Byd, this video was posted 5 years ago, but still very timely. First, I want to thank you very much. I am an African American, who roughly 12 years ago initiated into the Kongo tradition. Unfortunately, as with anything African or sacred from Africa, the true knowledge and secrets have either been lost or demonized. In the face of these ignorant beliefs, I follow my ancestors back to our roots. I am 57% genetically African, of which 10% is Congolese. Everything that I have learned about the tradition has come from non African people; mainly Spanish speaking people. Although there is some Kikong used, half or more is Spanish. I thank Nsambi that these Spanish speaking people tried to protect and preserve the secrets and rituals, but often this is not the case. I have 2 Nkinsi, inactivated, but did not know the full purpose of them. This single video has explained some much to a non Spanish speaking Tata Nkinsi. And again, unfortunately, often those who know the secrets rob you blind to get the knowledge. I thank you again, my brother. May Nsambi, the Mpungo, and ancestors watch over, protect, and bless you!

For those who don't know, Palo Mayombe is not Traditional Kongo Spirituality. Palo Mayombe is Non-Black Cuban interpretation of what the Black Kongo enslaved people brough to the Americas.

Everything changes and evolves over time, none is better or worse. Even if it stayed in Kongo it would change and evolve over time… all traditions evolve

It is not a NON black spirituality. It’s literally an AFRICAN TRADITIONAL RELIGION. It was BLACK ppl who started Palo Mayombe and Briyombe. The ONLY reason it is in Cuba is because of the trans Atlantic Slave trade. That means African -specifically Congolese Slaves- started these religions(many black ppl who practice Palo now have Congolese ancestry and blood in our veins). Anti-blackness runs HEAVY in communities like Santariea and Palo…. And those both only exist because of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade… meaning because of the Africans that came to those countries. The erasure of the Black ppl that CREATED and PRESERVED these traditions is wildly anti-Black.

I did some research on the two headed dog. Apparently it's used for hunting witches. I find it strangely ironic that I was drawn to that figure since I practice witchcraft. lol I'm not sure what that really says about me. Can the Two headed dog be used in a protective manner for witches? I'm not even sure if I would have the equipment to wake it up or two activated.
