Nice Tutorial! I am surprised no one accused you of being a Wizard … Haha! I have mixed feelings about giving away the secrets. It’s great for people who what to improve their skills as a magician, but it allows others in on it, which can be detrimental when performing for those who have seen the tutorials and want to give you a hard time. I got the three shells a few weeks ago.

Nobody in my neck of the woods calls them "fizzy drinks" - they're collectively known as ginger, juice or scoosh. "Gies a boatle ah ginger, hen." "Whit kind?" "Irn Bru, doll. Ahv goat a throat like a junkie's carpet!" "Here, gerrit doon yer neck!"
@24magiccarrot
@24magiccarrot Жыл бұрын
We do call soft drinks fizzy drinks in Scotland, it is the generic term for all carbonated soft drinks. It's only really in the west of Scotland that the term ginger is used and it exclusively refers to Irn Bru and is not a generic term for all canned drinks.

@@24magiccarrot Born and raised in Glasgow. If you asked the guy in a tally-van for a bottle of "ginger", he'd ask you "what type?" Ginger is _not_ exclusively used for Irn Bru.
@24magiccarrot
@24magiccarrot Жыл бұрын
@@bhurzumii4315 Where I live it's rarely used but when it is it is almost exclusively for Irn Bru. If you aren't using it to specify a particular beverage then the people from Glasgow must be pretty dumb fucks, think about it if you were using another generic term say soda, pop or fizzy drinks, you wouldn't go into a shop and say "can you give me a bottle of soda/pop/fizzy drink", you'd specifically ask for what you want you'd say "I want a bottle of Irn Bru/cola/fanta".
@bhurzumii4315

@@24magiccarrot The example I set ("Gies a bottle of ginger") was to illustrate the context. I didn't suggest or imply that anyone walks into a shop or up to an ice cream van and asks for a bottle of non-specific ginger. You need to be a real midwit to draw that conclusion. "Ginger" is a broadbrush term for "soft drinks" _including_ Irn Bru. Same with "Scoosh" (yes, it also means to spray or squirt) and "juice." It's just like "beer" or "lager" - you _could_ ask for a pint of either and you'd probably be asked immediately for the brand/type you specifically want. Don't tell me I'm wrong about terms I've been using (along with the people around me) since I was a little kid. Sure, maybe _you_ didn't/don't use them that way, fair enough, but we did.
@24magiccarrot
@24magiccarrot Жыл бұрын
@@bhurzumii4315 The context you gave was specifically asking the ice-cream driver for a bottle of ginger so you were effectively saying you were doing the thing that I said was dumb, you said you asked an ice cream driver for a generic term then wait to be asked to give a specific, when everyone else would ask for the specific item they wanted right of the bat.

It used to be called "Iron Brew" but it fell foul of some kind of trades description act as there was no actual Iron in it so they changed the spelling to Irn Bru as a workaround.

Hey Cameron, I got kind of a similar thing going where I perform feats of strength like bending steel and breaking chains as part of a live show, attempting to vlog each gig. And yes I also focus largely on the presentation part of it since that’s what separates an actual pro Just a couple bits of advice, with the mics, why not just bring your own? That’s what I do. I also talk about it in my tech rider so they know what to expect. Also why not show parts of your show? Perhaps one day we’ll share the stage and end up on each other’s vlogs
@CameronGibsonIRL
@CameronGibsonIRL 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Eric, great to connect with you! I do actually always bring my own tech with me. I have a Sennheiser Radio mic set and an audio ape pro for my music so I can cue it all myself. However at this particular event, they had a dedicated tech crew who were very good and already had a mic in place for me, so I was happy to use it. For me, these types of smaller corporate events, I don't usually "require" tech rider specs as often one of the reasons they hire me over other acts is my ability to be flexible with the conditions they have available. I currently don't show parts of my show as I don't want to have my act online just yet - I like keeping it a surprise for my audiences. Although that may change in the near future! I would absolutely love to share the stage with you one day. Where are you based?
@EricMossthestrongmanexperience
@EricMossthestrongmanexperience 2 жыл бұрын
@@CameronGibsonIRL good to connect with you as well. I live in New Jersey. One thing you can do is only show part of the effects. I don’t normally show the full thing, just pick and choose what looks good, maybe just the build up and the the reactions so it’s still a surprise. Also about the tech rider, you can mention you’ll work with them and just keep it simple.

The thing is, it is from those crazy yanks. The first Iron Brew drink was produced by the Maas & Waldstein chemicals company of New York in 1889 under the name IRONBREW.[6] The drink was popular across North America and was widely copied. A similar beverage was launched in 1898 by London essence firm Stevenson & Howell that supplied soft drinks manufacturers in the UK and colonies. Many local bottlers around the UK began selling their own version of the beverage.[6] Despite the official launch date for Barr's Iron Brew being given as 1901, the firms AG Barr & Co (Glasgow) and Robert Barr (Falkirk) jointly launched their own Iron Brew drink at least two years earlier, according to a document in the firm's archives which indicates that the drink was already enjoying strong sales by May 1899.[6] The strongman image which Barr's adopted for their bottle labels and advertising had been trademarked by the firm Stevenson & Howell in 1898.[7] Barr's ordered their labels directly from Stevenson & Howell, which also sold Barr's many of the individual flavours with which they mixed their own drinks.[6] An advertisement for Barr's Iron Brew dated 1900 featuring the original strongman label can be found in Falkirk's Local History Archives.[8] Barr's trademark application for the brand name Irn-Bru dates from July 1946[9] when the drink was still off sale because of wartime regulations. The firm first commercialised their drink using this new name in 1948 once government SDI consolidation of the soft drinks industry had ended.[10] The name change followed the introduction of new labelling restrictions which cracked down on spurious health claims and introduced minimum standards for drinks claiming to contain minerals such as iron.[11] However, according to Robert Barr OBE (chairman 1947-1978), there was also a commercial rationale behind the unusual spelling. "Iron Brew" had come to be understood as a generic product category in the UK, whereas adopting the name "Irn-Bru" allowed the firm to have a legally protected brand identity that would enable the firm to benefit from the popularity of their wartime "Adventures of Ba-Bru" comic strip advertising.[6] (The "Iron Brew" name has continued to be used for many versions of the drink sold by rival manufacturers.)[12]
