When boats have hydrilla on the trailers, picked up from other ponds, this is how it spreads. Fishermen need to wise up and DEEP should have officers at boat ramps check this. It's spreading very quickly.

There is a lot of oil in these plants. It wouldn't take much to process it for biodiesel. There are also many other uses for hydrilla. This should be a case of making lemonade from lemons?

I grew up fishing CT River and only remember some eel grass and maybe some Milfoil. I now live on TN River in Chattanooga. Hydrilla is wide spread all over the country and easily managed through aquatic spraying. With the enormous tax's in the state of CT, it should not even be second guessed as to what should be done. I'd look at 'Texas Parks And Wildlife' as a model. If they can manage enormous lakes like Teledo Bend and Sam Rayburn Res with the only funding coming from fishing license fee's... Hydrilla shouldn't be irradicated but, controlled. A certain amount of it is actually healthy for a waterway.

In some regions in America, grass and any cover does not easily grow back after plowing. In North Dakota for instance as in Florida, it would take 10 years or more to have the grass sod come back. They only have grass to graze and never able to plow. In Connecticut, you would easily have the grass grow once again after deep plowing and loosening up the soil. The State Universities were put in 1850 to Study agriculture since the thought of the land wearing out instead of being improved and a dust storm from the mid west where no sod grew back caused dust to appear as far away as New York City.

Awesome video. I come from a family of farmers from Napoli Italy, and Sicily Italy… my parents came to America with their parents. They kept farming in Connecticut just not big scale. We never had to buy any food from the store- anyway. I’m grateful for this video because it’s super helpful. Now it’s my time to carry the torch 😊

Huijie and Monique two thumbs up from Washington state! Very well presented and valuable information for someone trying to privately develop wood biochar equipment. I have been experimenting with a kiln nearly identical to the previous presenter's kiln. In my 3 years of garden/greenhouse and tree planting experiments with biochar/compost/manure/fish variables I have seen these same reverse results in soils with very high organic matter. I believe your results will continue like this. Your research is the first ive seen to help me ponder the mechanism. great explanation of hard softwood porosity too. I have had my most interesting finds with 900f slow pyrolysis willow char recently and planted 600+ willows this year for further experiments. I have been using a co-composted manure forced air static pile charging method for my most recent experiments. Thank you all who contributed.

Need to find some commercial uses for it. Would it make good fertilizer? Plastics? Fuel? Herbicidal treatment has been a disaster in Florida creating large sores on fish and poisoning the water.

What about water in the dry years? Primary water, deep and clean recourse. God's gift to humans. When are people going to realize fluoride when taken internally in our water does not prevent cavities. But what is does lower IQ in children. We get our dose when we eat processed food. Same with cutting the umbilical cord at birth attached to all the life giving nutrients to survive. Doctors don't tell you because theirs were cut really short at birth.

Happy to know farmers are doing no till gardens in Ct. This is our 2nd year for our small family of 2 plus our neighbor's family gets our extras. In our 70s yrs old a garden is still doable.
