The rather hilarious ranking system leads to major false perceptions about teams' abilities. The FACT of the matter is, for most teams but for the Springboks in particular, ONLY Rugby World Cup counts in the modern era. Rassie Erasmus has made that clear on many occasions. Hence the Boks use all matches in between RWC tournaments to blood new players, try out combos, test game plans etcetera, regardless of the outcomes. Yes, of course, while doing all of that the Boks WANT to win (which will point to success with what they're attempting), but in the greater scheme of things (preparing for the next RWC) losses are no big deal. Hence the Boks in 2023 retained the RWC which they had won in 2019, while a team such as Ireland (No 1 in the rankings at the start of RWC 2023) did not get past the quarters (as they had anyway never done before). The Boks' approach have in fact delivered four RWC titles in only eight attempts (50%), with New Zealand being second with three titles from 10 attempts (30%). Any team better than the Springboks? Then go prove it at RWC 2027. It's ONLY at RWC where all teams compete at the same time on a level playing field with their best possible 33 players. Nothing else really matters.

I believe my All Blacks should be forth. Boks, Ireland, France are overall better.

Ascension Island has no resourses to accommodate asylum seekers. Food has to be shipped or flown in and there'd be nowhere to house them. They'd have nothing to do, so they would only cause trouble. Ludicrous idea. I live and work here, so I know.
