Absolutely not! Many prefer matte as it's easier to photograph with artificial lights, but I also sometimes use satin finish spray varnish. It gives the doll much more lively skin and I really like how it looks. It's a question of preference so just try and see what you like the most! n_n

Suchan thank you so much! I am doing my first customization and I can't decide ; _ ; although I will go with matte if I can find it, if not I'll save some money and use the gloss varnish I'm already using for the body ^ _ ^

+Kit Harner As long as it's spray it doesn't matter. Remember you can always remove it and start from scratch if you don't like the results. It's all temporary so just try and have fun ^^ If you eanna check online, common brands for matte varnish sprays are Army Painter, Mr. Super Clear and Citadel (from Games Workshop)

This particular one which I got from pharmacy is very gentle and I've been using it for 6 years now without any problems. The main ingredient for dissolving the face-up sealant is 2-propanol, also known as isopropyl alcohol, chemically C3H8O and I've heard some using even "petrol dryer" (for cars) which often are mostly 2-propanol. Only ingredients you should NEVER put to doll's face are anything oil based and acetone. But just to be sure, I always recommend "patch testing" anything you might want to put to dolls' face first on a small area, on top of scalp, behind head etc. so if something happens, it's not so noticeable.

Sorry I only saw your comment now! >.<'' Yes, many chemicals can damage the delicate plastic. Key is try try everything to the scalp or inside head and see if it does anything harmful. I have tested all equipment you see in video for years and they are proven doll-safe. It's always better to try and check than go straight to doll's face.

Hi! I just uploaded new video, where I show the removal process. I use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), sometimes 1800 grit sandpaper if the makeup is very stuck. :)
