My dad was a WW2 Chinese Canadian veteran who belonged to Force 136 S.O.E. and got a VLA loan/grant to buy a 5 acre chicken & market garden farm in Saanich on Pat Bay Hwy. 😇👀🚑🚓🚒🚢⛴️🛳️🍁🙏😀🇨🇦

I grew up on our family chicken and market garden farm on Pat Bay Hwy. in Saanich from grade 3. My dad was also a Chinese Canadian WW2 veteran from Force 136 S.O.E. and also got a VLA grant to help buy the 5 acre farm. We lived in a converted chicken house before we built a new house beside the highway. This video brings back many fond memories.❤️🐰🇨🇦💕😍🙈🙏🍁👀😇

Thank you so much for uploading this interview. My grandma sadly passed away this past month in July and this is a precious memory of her personality and family history. I was just up in Alert Bay about 2 weeks ago & saw the old building & few other old buildings that former Chinese residents built there, many decades ago. I'm friends with a few folks in Namgis Nation there. I couldn't find out much about the former Japanese residents who were removed, put into internment camps & had everything they owned seized by government.

The joy in Bernice's face radiates and makes her even more beautiful!

We use to go to that exact restaurant for late evening after a night out. Thanks for all the wonderful memories.
