I spent a year in Ft. Worth as an exchange student in 1986/87. I came back for three weeks in 1996, with my then girl friend, now wife. I had been a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan for a long time and his tragic early death really shocked me. We made a round trip and visited Austin for a couple of days. One day we went to the Colorado river and to my surprise there was a big SRV statue installed right by the river. In the afternoon we went to a record store close to Antone's and saw the poster for the evening house act Lou Ann Barton. It was somewhat of a countrystyle picture with all that makeup and curly hair and frill blouse. Not my style actually and I didn't know what to expect. But we went anyways. When she went on stage, to our surprise, it was like another person, all skinny and dressed in black, with short black hair also. It was so much fun, especially this song. I loved the mixed audience dancing in front of the stage. Young and old, black, white, hispanic. Students, country people all doing their thing, be it solo or as a couple, to the same music.

I never knew life without running water until I moved back to Indonesia. A part of Indonesia without running water. But, a huge reservoir underground. The beauty of it was the modernity of the housing development but because the waters been around before industrialization public waterworks can’t exactly force the people to opt-in to the billings system.
