Please explain the name of your farm and channel name. I’ve tried to make sense of it, but it’s not making any sense to me. For some reason it’s a trigger for me. I’m fairly new to watching and I did subscribe. It’s nice to have friends to keep you company. Good for you.

OMG your garden is magnificent. I have an abandoned apple orchard on my property that I am trying to resurrect. Several different varieties with different maturation dates.. It was a good year for apples and with 16 + trees I had quite the harvest. In fact, I was cutting up apples for a crisp while enjoying your video. Love your music choices.

I fill gallon jugs in the winter and pull them in ice fishing sled during the winter months. I use the rubber feed bowls from tractor supply or a feed supply store during the winter months. Unless you have power and heated waterer's during the winter the standard waterers will freeze in the winter. They don't need water at night as they are sleeping so I dump their water out when they go to bed at night and fill with fresh water in the morning. It's a process but, it works.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to have to do as well. I really want a frost free hydrant near the coop, but we would have to ruin the pipe so deep it's not in the budget right now. So I'll be schlepping from the house every day

So happy the steam canner worked - it is an absolute game changer! And yes, I do love it when you show us the missteps as well as the successes. As I've said repeatedly, growing up with relatives who farmed, nothing makes me crazier than seeing "sanitized" channels where everything works the first time, where it all looks easy and inspirational. Farming is hard, messy, frustrating and rewarding work. Your channel keeps it real!

Raccoons are really nasty animals. Their feces carries a parasite whose eggs can only be killed with fire, no chemicals kill the eggs. The eggs are viable for decades. The CDC has some really scary info. Ingesting the microscopic eggs are deadly to people especially children.

Right? I looked at a couple of much bigger places but now am glad I got priced out of those! I have almost 7 acres, but probably 3 of those I'm just letting be wild, so really only 4 that I'm managing.

Your getting lots accomplished 🙂For laying chickens, they need 14 to 16 hours of light for egg production. I used to have my light come on at 6 am and shut off at 9 or 10 pm. I did this manually but you can set it up with a timer to turn on and off when you want it.
@afargreenhomesteadАй бұрын
We get plenty of light this time of year so I'm not too worried about it, especially since they haven't started laying yet. I think I have another month or so...

Amazing job! Soon enough they will learn. We have had chickens that have been gone the whole day and then they would come back at night and go to their home. They just need time to readjust to their knee pattern and soon enough you won’t have to worry about it.
