Does the jet black have a sheen to it?
@ryanuhazie25 күн бұрын
it is more matte than sheen. i have used a clear coat that is glossy over it before but i think it looks better and holds up better with just the first layer of cerakote. I feel the clear coat chips easier and takes the colored cerakote underneath it with it. of course elite or H series is better for clubs but i dont have an oven to bake in, so C series was my choice. for putters, it seems to hold up well.

When you say you couldn't save the face, do you mean the club isn't usable to roll true? Second Q: How do you ensure the face is flat when grinding, any tips?
@MasterfulClubRevivalАй бұрын
@@kevinhowe5502 I could not save the face milling. Over the years the milling was warn down too much and some spots were even bare. If the mill job was intact I wouldn’t have ground it down at all. But because it was patchy I completely refaced it to be flat. Without a machine milling it, it’s impossible to ensure a perfectly flat face. However a micrometer tool can be used to ensure it’s as even/flat as possible. A highly skilled or tour pro level golfer may feel a face that’s not perfect but I don’t think it would affect the average golfer. A way that requires no tools but a level to ensure a flat grind is as simple as a few drops of water. If the water runs off the face when the head is perfectly level then the face isn’t level. If the water stays put then the face is flat
@kevinhowe5502Ай бұрын
@@MasterfulClubRevival Thanks for the reply! I work in a machine shop, so I do have access to a milling machine, but am concerned with taking off more weight than needed. I was considering just taking the face to a belt sander and trying to apply even pressure.
@MasterfulClubRevivalАй бұрын
@@kevinhowe5502 I would look up some custom milling videos, balance could be effected but again at most people skill level I doubt it would result in too many extra missed putts. PS- I would love to have a cool milled face even if it messed up the “roll”. Haha

Yea I know, and for some reason I think the clear coat actually made the chipping and wear worse. I’ve done an iron with just type C and it held up better than this one. Granted I was also hitting out of sand and gravel with this one. I’ll try to pick up some smaller toaster oven that I can bake clubs in and try my hand at H or elite series. But for things like shafts I feel like I’ll have to stick to C series as I don’t think I’ll be able to fit a shaft in any oven
