I was in way over my head with this game at age 12 years or so old... but watching your review in 2024 I'd like to give BoD another try.

I know I’m like 100 years too late, but I do think it’s funny that you say the RPG should start hard and become easier when your main complaint about this game is that it gets too easy at the end 😂 I know what you mean though there should be some difficulty restrained by the end but it’s hard to do

It looks like Ultima 7 with tacked on a first-person view and different battle visualizations. All it seems to do is to make the gameplay slower across the board. It is obvious why they did not make a sequel - there was no good Ultima game after U7 to rip off and use as a blueprint. Welcome to games industry - everyone copies everyone else in hopes of money. Your respect for Blizzard would be annihilated if you knew what kind of crappy projects they wasted their time on and ended up never showing anyone. Blizzard was so convinced that Ion Storm's Dominion (that flopped because it was based on BS) was going to defeat them that they fumbled over themselves many times before publishing Starcraft - or "Orcs in Space" as they called it at one point. :D I get the impression the reviewer here tries too hard to be moderate and opinion-validated and it does not seem sincere or personal at all. It is just a bunch of scripted lines that in no organic way add up to the end conclusion that it is a gem. It is as if the person looked up other people's reviews and decided that it was going to agree. There is no sense of personal assessment in this review. The tone seems to be: "it is good because other people say so and I have no idea why they say so." It is a rather worthless quality in something that is supposed to be a source. Why would anyone consume a review if there were no self-sourced observations to share? There is no point in talking if you are not going to talk for yourself or moderate yourself in hopes of being more acceptable. No one will respect a person like that. They might like you for agreeing with them, though the first disagreement will make all that goodwill instantly vanish.

There is variety to solving quests just not the main quest I get it because you want all character builds to be able to progress through the main quest but side quests don’t matter as much you can lock a player out of them if want not so much with the main story

New Vegas is obviously better overall because it is newer they added to previous additions anyway I love both and play both as one with ttw and ya know like 2500 other mods crammed in merge patches so big they have more conflicts than years I been alive anyway 🤣

I remember using newgrounds during the 2000s when I was a young 2000s kid that I have seen so many flash movies and play many flash games when I was a 2000s kid! :D Back when I remember it known for being madness combat and pico's school and even remember seeing fan flash movies and fan flash games of mario and sonic and mega man. And even Naruto back when Naruto have a way better fan base in the 2000s but damn... it is a shame how copyright has affected newgrounds which it is a shame to see so many Amazing flash movies I remember seeing ended up having to be taken down because of copyright! which I feel bad for the people that work so hard on their flash movies or flash games. Just to have their flash movies or flash games being taken down from newgrounds even without knowing their flash movies are taken down.. like it is such a shame to see how copyright Is just killing creativity.. which it sure is a shame how people can't even make a very creative video aka a fan music video or a fan movie that you can't even make without having to worry. Your video will get taken down for copyright which it is a shame you can never get to see that much creative videos on the internet like you could before even from newgrounds during The 2000s is when people would have make such creative flash movies without having to worry their flash movies don't get taken down but man I always will remember those times. I have used newgrounds during the 2000s that I have seen so many cool flash movies during the 2000s back when friday night funkin didn't became a thing yet in 2020 the worst year Ever to happen.

Honestly if my dude made a deal with a music composer and rereleased everything with soundtracks. Or hell Even offer them as DLC. I'm sure a larger group would be fans. I want to get into them but like playing through Sorcery! I need to have a fantasy OST playing in the background because I gotta have my music for vibes

Played Fallout 1 and 2 in the 2000s (played 3 first and then went back) and I bought Planescape but never played it for whatever reason. This review definitely makes me want to go back but 1) I have 50+ games in my backlog and 2) the first games I plan on getting once I get a gaming PC will be ones like The Witcher 2, Wasteland 3, Baldur's Gate 1-3, TES 3-5, KOTOR 1 and 2, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and Batman Arkham Origins.

0 is an absolutely amazing game that I put scores of hours into and I have dozens of more I can go back to with the fight club, recruiting/running Majima's bar, finishing Kiryu's real estate quest, etc. Will definitely at least play Kiwami 1 and 2 before I go back, though. I'm ashamed to say that I've been gaming for about 30 years now and before I beat 0 this year I only played demos of this series.

so i'm just hearing about this now, because some random person mentioned this to me in a youtube message and i wanted to come to the truth of this, so this mod came out for FONV like a month before FO4 was released, and the accusation is this one quest in the far harbor DLC, i do find it very interesting, but at the same time when was far harbor released? and when was it being worked on? to be frank though, i played this quest in far harbor and i found it boring and meh, like i didn't even want to complete the quest, not only was the location really unstable but the story was meh.. i know people praise the far harbor DLC a lot, but there were some good things in the DLC but i often felt it was boring, even the main quest for going there was meh in comparison to the main story of the base game and the base game's commonwealth location, now what bethesda did bad in the commonwealth was the unstable area, boston is a shitshow and still is till this day, we have mods that help but it's still really bad, it's worse because of the update, but most of the commonwealth is good.

My only problem with the game is I wish it was more serious I like the purgatory setting but I definitely would have rather been fighting tortured souls and demons than ninjas in purgatory lmao

It's unfortunate that you started the video with the development history background. It's important to know all these things, and those are valid excuses for a lot of things (I mean, I'm an Arcanum fan, tons of excuses there), but first I want to know if the game was worth developing further - it's not a foregone conclusion to those unfamiliar with the title. Basically, I want the essay to first sell me on the concept/game, and only THEN explain why it was unfinished/buggy/discontinued etc. etc. To me, this game seems uninteresting because while it calls itself an RPG, it has no story nonlinearity (and to me personally that's mandatory for a "true" RPG, but it's subjective ofc), and I don't like JRPG combat even when it's well implemented, and in Anachronox it's NOT well implemented (even fans admit it). A good candidate for a KZbin playthrough.

I loved the hell out of this game, but it was hell to run, too! I rolled a female Elf who hated technology, and it always amazed me how the game gives you the freedom to play that way!

There is Fallou: Yesterday update! v. 0.6 where you can complete main story by certain type of character! You probably know about this mod, but if not, it's a recreation of Van Buren in Fallout 2.
