IF the tropical circulation in the GOM intensifies to near tropical storm strength next week , there could be a few weak tornadoes in southeastern Texas during and shortly after landfall.

1:45 The typhoon note: made me realize I never hear any weather notes for Thailand, where I have loved ones. This is very welcome and appreciated. Edit - I also have great appreciation that you cover the entirety of North America routinely. Weather doesn't abide by political boundaries.

I hope this is the last heat wave of the summer in Az. Maybe the EPAC will become busier. Maybe we can get a tropical disturbance to hit the SW conus in the next few weeks?

Yes... would be great to have clear skies in the summer. This Canada / Northwest wildfire smoke in late summer has become a bit of a recurring problem.

Here in central ID, much of the summer, we have had much smoke from Canada and California. Hot and dry. We now are plagued with our own smoke!

Tucson: Roller coaster with monsoon, rainfall wildly variable over space. In Catalina foot hills, we have only had just over 3.5 inches for season. BTW, had your books out at same time you threw up those enticing graphics for more teaching to come! Forgot to mention that it is strange that # lighting strikes om monsoon summary page shows this season to be ridiculously low<<< than lowest ever recorded???

Almost certainly a wettest & cooler half to August w 2-3” of rain cold enough to bring snow to lower elevations as also occurred at Mammoth mountain California and Shasta mountain. Thankfully we’re right back into late summer weather w a large H giving us dry easterly wind and summer like conditions prevail for the last week summer vaycay for schools returning next week after Labour Day…🐞

This summer really has been a mixed bag which is highly unusual in my area in Memphis. It's normally hot with day time thunderstorms here and there in June/July and hit and dry in August / September. Will be interesting to see if this transfers into the fall.

I'll see what we can do... I had to cut down on a lot of the global coverage last spring as it was adding to the time it took to get the video completed, and I'm not sure we were covering the details to everyone's satisfaction. I'll keep looking for an angle for adding this.
