I practice Goju ryu karate and Ryuei ryu kobudo. We also slide the kon so to hit or block with the longest part of the weapon. The movements in this kata remind me of our Shodan and Nidan no kon katas. I like yours a lot. And a geat performance, also.

What a beautiful technique and performance of your kata your footing your balance everything was in the one fluid motion. This really touch my heart today, and it's great to see people practicing old-fashioned martial arts. All of these videos are intended as walk-throughs and the kiai are intentionally omitted. Actually, in some schools of karate, there are no set points for kiai. This is in contrast to styles like Shotokan where there are typically two kiai per kata and the location is strictly prescribed. Thank you for watching!

We have not posted a Sakugawa no Kon video as of this writing, but we do plan to post one. And yes, our Yamanni-ryu is of the Oshiro/Nishime lineage, as opposed to the Maeda lineage or any of the various others. Happy New Year!

@nick12345304 - Both Kensho and Shureido sai are well-balanced, in general. Shureido sai are a bit heavier, so it's a matter of preference -- or the purpose for which you intend to use them.

I enjoy the simplicity of the kata. So often people try to get fancy for showmanship. Sometimes you just have to let the sais show themselves off in practical fashion. Thank you for the demonstration!
