I wish he was still making them. I would like to have another one. I will be posting a video of my Pistol shooting box hopefully soon and I will have information on the guy who built it. I just got a new R92 stainless octagon barrel .44 magnum , zero problems and I'm shooting heavy magnum loads. But of course whenever I get a new firearm at a minimum field strip, clean , lube and blue loc tite screws. Which I personally think everyone should do to become familiar with the function and workings of their firearm. Call me crazy........

One thing I would like to add. It seems most people believe that Remington produced the so called “ Remlins.” These were actually J.M. lever gun parts inherited by Remington when they purchased Marlin Company. These “Remlins” are J.M. Marlin lever gun parts assembled by former did-gruntled J.M. Workers who lost their jobs. J.M. Workers had to assemble them because there were no schematics or engineering sheets to be found.

It’s just terrible quality issues like this occur when Rossi prices for their lever guns are up there. In the future perhaps it may be better to stick to Marlin or Winchester. Beautiful .44 magnum lever gun, but there should be no functional problems with a new lever gun period. I feel bad for you because this should not be.

On the Rossi website it claims that R92 rifles with 24 inch barrels can accept 12 rounds, but I'm not sure if that's true or false. Because for one nobody's made a video shooting 12 rounds out of a R92 yet, and two most 44 Magnum lever actions like the Marlin 1894 and the Henry Big Boy can only take 10 rounds and it has me questioning how the Rossi R92 is capable of accepting 12.. If you ever get the time to read my comment could you respond and tell me what the deal is since you own a 24 inch R92? Because I've been thinking about buying myself one quite similar to yours.

Don, I just inspected my new R92, same model as yours, and I noticed that the screw holding in the buttplate was scored as if by a heavy screwdriver or power tool. Also, there were fingerprints and tiny scratches in the stainless, like you would get after months of use. Also, there was a 2" zigzag-type scratch in the steel near the feed. Is this normal? Also, it seems to be rather difficult to aim with the sight over the hammer. Is this normal as well?

Mine out of the box was at the very last notch (the lowest) and while trying to get the front bead in the bottom of the rear notch you would see the following notches for the rear sight, I moved one more up and that is where I have left it, it can hit steel up to hundred yards no problem I would just like to know what you have your rear notch at. I have a recent (2023) production Rossi R92 24" Rifle in 357 Mag - min does not have any problems. Now, I did remove the magazine tube and replace the plastic follower with a stainless steel one and when I re-installed the screw that holds the magazine cap on and secured the magazine to the barrel, I put some blue loctight on it. I also replaced the annoying flip safety with a button - the action is a proper 92 action with a half cock that is the safety, no need for the add-on one. I am sure by now you have figured this all out but thought I'd post anyway.

Just for thought. I like the safety much better than a crossbolt. I hunt with my Rossi R92, .357 mag and .454 Casull. That safety is very easy to operate and totally quiet. The sights on these rifles make them a 50-100 yard proposition, making stealth necessary. The safety enables me to sit with the gun at full cock with no noise or movement to ready it to fire. just saying..............

Earlier this year I purchased a Rossi/CBC R92C .44 magnum in stainless steel with a 16" barrel. It wouldn't even feed rounds from the loading gate because of a major burr on the left side of the receiver. I removed the burr with a cone-shaped grinding wheel and that fixed the problem. It wouldn't feed rounds slowly; they would hang up in the top of the chamber. If I cycle the rifle briskly cartridges feed ok. The biggest problem with this rifle is the barrel is out of spec. SAAMI spec for .44 Rem Magnum rifle barrels is 0.431. My barrel slugs at 0.4325 which means if I shoot bullets with diameters less than0.433 I'm going to get blowby which can affect accuracy and cause leading if I shoot lead bullets. I've had no response from Rossi about this. I purchased a NOE bullet mold which throws 0.434 bullets which should improve the accuracy.
