He's just not very good. It's a bedroom performance. No depth. Like an AI playing blues.

True. I love the SRV tone that he gets when he plays blues out of the strat, but this song just needs that 335.

I love battle studies, since my hometown i grew up in had a problem with internet, i dont even know any of his songs until i hear Friends, Lover and Nothing on local city radio. Had to googled the lyric just to know who artist are.
I love that he's playing Gibson's custom shop Eric Clapton Crossroads 335 replica. Rare these days and fantastic guitar. I played one in Dallas back in 2006 when they were "just" 10,000 bucks. In my opinion most anything a fender can do a Gibson can do a little bit better.

Got a PRS silver sky that sounds juicy af. But agree that nothing can beat the attack of a Gibson

I'm putting you I'm putting you out of my mind I'm putting you I'm putting you right out of my mind I'm so tired of running after you One-and-one-half steps behind Go tell your friends Go tell your friends what Johnny did Yeah, go tell your friends Go tell your friends what Johnny did If they don't laugh right at you They just as fucked up as you is If I don't see you tomorrow See you another day, I'm sure If I don't see you tomorrow See you another day, I'm sure I'll run into you at your job You be waiting for me outside the stage door I'm putting you I'm putting you right out of my mind I'm putting you, baby I'll put you right out of my mind So tired of chasing after you Being one-and-one-half steps behind

There's a generation that thinks "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" is a Guns n Roses song.
@paulhendriks71573 жыл бұрын
@@williamknell864 I guess it's always been that way, for each generation. Look at the Stones, Led Zeppelin and all the early blues tunes they covered/"adapted". Almost no one in England in the 60s knew who Robert Johnson was.

But why does he mock those who respect R & B and the "Blues" in his monologue? He exposes he is just a young kid at heart, immature, unnecessarily cocky, and arrogant, and quite frankly, disrespectful to his entire older audience, whether they enjoy the "blues" or not. Jesus, if only these young wunderkind shits would wear an ounce of humility and steer away from the trap of behaving judgmental. Their frame of reference on all subjects, the blues, rock, jazz, etc. is so narrow, so limited to the few years they've been walking the earth, they make a fool of themselves. But, Mayer is a huge talent, and I love his guitar work and the old men he chooses to have on the stage with him when he performs live.....gosh, he's a hypocrite on top of being a condescending prick...what do you know?
@KS6222 жыл бұрын
Lol, I don’t know if you’re joking or if you’re serious, but I do know your name is John Maer
@AdanLucass2 жыл бұрын
@@johnmaer I think he was just mocking the old guys who are not very receptive to anything other than the blues and older music. He wouldn't mock the Blues itself since his whole style was built over it
