You make it look easy, but it is very difficult to put the new battery in. Perhaps the size of the CR1616 has changed or the plastic has shrunk. I had to shave off some of the plastic that holds the battery in.

Does it need reprogramming when changing battery?

Very easy to follow the video, managed to replace the batteries for both of the key fobs within 5 minutes. The only difference with my fob is that the battery had a metal cage around it and the + side had to be mounted up. Thanks for your advice!

Loved this tutorial--thanks so much! Very clear, concise, and simple. Especially liked the advice on rocking the flathead screwdriver instead of prying--this avoids damaging the plastic housing.

Your battery recommendation is wrong. It's actually battery size CR1632. NOT CR 2016.

Why aren’t my keys opening without literally breaking the plastic . No matter how I turned my screwdriver it was also breaking it so I had to snap it open from the top now it’s broken in several places, the black plastic around the outer sides is broken . Top it off I wish I saw this video first because I was told to go buy a cr2302 battery for my 07 eclipse 🤬 thankfully This happened on my spare key but how do I open my only other key without completely breaking the plastic to pieces?! Help!!!

Where do I buy the plastic clip which holds the CR 1632 battery? Mine is broke. Doesn't come with the replacement Fob or battery.

That is the incorrect battery size for at least the 09 forward. The fact that there are multiple comments saying that this video is amazing and the fact that it hasn't been corrected is astonishing

Glad I didn't try to muscle the fob in half! Your video was easy and instructive. CR-2032 coin batteries are available from Dollar Tree and similar stores, $1.25 for 2. Usually good brand batteries that last for years.
