I post a lot on horse racing videos. To me, what he did at the Belmont was perfection. It’s winning the pga championship by 20 strokes. It’s throwing for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns in a single game. It’s scoring 120 points in a basketball game. It’s something that we will never see again and to me, that’s special. It’s one of those moments captured in time that makes me really believe in miracles

The most exciting sporting event i have ever seen in my life was watching Secretariat run at the Kentucky Derby - but, even bigger would have been seeing him at the Belmont - Big Red - there will never be another horse like Secretariat - he was, and stlll is, the Greatest!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

His wife Lory Patrick, born in 1938, is 86. I was researching Ms. Patrick after seeing her listed in the cast of an episode of Tales of Wells Fargo. All the best to her and RIP Dean. Thanks for posting this video.

Thank you! Always loved Marty's singing and getting to see him race. Planning on building a model kit of one of his cars. He loved the freedom of racing, just for the fun of it.

Secretariat was definitely a supremely great horse. Greatest ever? Possibly, but he did lose 5x. However, there's no doubt that Secretariat's Belmont victory is the greatest race ever run by a horse. I remember watching that race live when I was 14 yrs old and I still get chills watching that race now

After the 1984 firecracker 400, the age really caught up to Richard, it was sad to see him perform like this.

How many modern day Nascar Cup-Exfinity & Truck Series drivers would know to pump the accelerator pedal to help spray more fuel on top of the pistons when their car is overheating?! … I’m betting not too many.

Why is the title of this vid..."Final Year(S) of Richard Petty's career" ? This only covers ONE "Year" (1992). I want to see earlier YearS (plural). There's already a ton of "Fan Appreciation Tour" vids out there.

Secretariat was the ONLY racehorse to make the cover of Time magazine. A HORSE! It was the intangibles that made Secretariat great; he captured the imaginations of the people.

It was easy for the people who couldn't go to horse races to connect to Secretariat. I was only 2 years old when this happened, but remembered the celebration around this horse, thanks to tv. I know others have one before and after, but don't near as much about them. He was truly something special. Also, if you notice, Ron doesn't use the whip nearly as much as the others. This was running/racing encapsulated in a living being. I remember this even when I was 2 years old. LOL I still get goose bumps! He was put down the year I graduated HS.

I was at that race with my dad and brother. I was 8 years old at the time. The Foyt wrecked happened right in front of us. Someone took a picture of my brother standing on the front seat of my dad's 58 Chevy convertible. The picture was in the LA Times the next day.
