Can you add a link for the ball mount you put on the A Pilar? I can't find them on the ram website
@RoamRlife

If you are referring to the arms that connect to the ball on one end and the device on the other, then there are some links in the video description. Hope that helps.

In 1975, I owned a 1951 Willys PU. The grill was the same as this. I have a photo of it if you want to see it. I just bought a 1954 and it is being "revived." This is a really cool-looking one. I'm going to take a couple ideas, such as the JC lamps on the front bumper. I've got a killer custom bumper on it.

Brilliant solution, thanks for sharing! I’ve been looking for a clean, simple solution for mounting phones and coms on our 2023 Transit, and the RAM track seems to be the way to go. Was originally considering ProClip or other similar solutions but that wouldn’t cover the coms and isn’t universal or adjustable.

Thanks. We have been big fans of the Ram components, not only for the vast versatility and catalog of parts, but personally tested having been in a high speed accident and have had Ram's device grips retain hold of my phone, leaving it accessible.

The front fenders and hood are from a 1951......the grill and fender are connected on a slight curve ..when viewing from the front....1948 & 1949 are on two angles....alsi the hood ornament on a 1948 & 1949 is a njckel tapered strip from front to back....the 1951 is on your truck.....your Willys looks super great job....

Great video. The Ram Mount site has a WARNING on their Grab Bar Mount page to not to install a mount on pillar if there is an Air Bag behind it. The Air Bag will launch the phone and mount at the driver. On our 2023 Ford Transit there is an Air Bag in that pillar that starts and the top and extends slightly below the bottom Gram Handle mounting hole. I seriously disappointed as I was looking forward to using the Grab Bar location.
@RoamRlife
@RoamRlife 3 ай бұрын
That's a solid consideration when mounting in this location for sure. In this case, the ball mount is hard mounted where the grab handle WAS utilizing the OEM threaded hole. (as this in not meant to move when the air bag deploys) We were of the opinion that as long as the phone itself was rotated towards the steering wheel, past the center plane of the hard mount location in the A-pillar, that the phone would not get launched out of the cradle as it would be clear of the bag deployment. Alternatively, if you had the phones cradle rotated toward the window, in the path of the bag, then yes, I could see how any device in that location could get launched if that makes sense.

I like this Jeep very much. It turned out great, well worth the countless hours of work that it took to pull it off. The lights up top look way out of place though and detract from the original rat rod cool factor. They look so amazon-ish, like a corny chain store item compared to the inspired Jeep styling, I'm sure they blast a bunch of light and all but that huge logo repeating on every single light looks silly never mind that there are way too many of them. I can see one or two lights in a vintage style canister but not those clunky silhouette destroyers. It's one cool Jeep otherwise

Yes, you can on this van. But now we use an upgraded seat that doesn’t recline but the seat back folds down, and the whole seat bottom fold up against the driver side window to allow you to reclaim all of that space while you’re in camp mode.

We bought Nugget, largely intact (except for tailgate) with a locked up motor, and if memory serves, paid around $2200. But that was 5-6 years ago. Do you think its possible to leave the grab handle mounted and still add the M6 RAM mounting ball through the handle? Would it have enough thread to grab still (guessing not based on your description) and would the ball clear the handle sufficiently?
@RoamRlife
@RoamRlife Жыл бұрын
You're correct, wont be enough thread left. I searched for that size thread but in longer length, but didn't see one available. It would not only need more thread but would also have to clear the handle enough to be usable.

If you have the power outlet option in the bed, I assume it will be lost (walled off). Do you know if the outlet cover would be in the way of the Decked System? Excellent video. I hadn't seen the corner storage areas discussed - only shown in a few pictures. Too bad they are not water tight. One might be perfect for an air compressor, with gauge and connections out of the side.

This video deserves thousands more views, because I know there's gotta be thousands more Tacoma 4x4 owners out there who are going through the same hassles & nightmares that I experienced with the factory Toyota drive shafts. I bought my 2000 Tacoma 4x4 brand new, 21 yrs ago. But up until recently, I knew far less about drive shaft design than I thought I did, thanks to Tom Woods. My original Toyota drive shaft was indeed the superior double cardan type, and I got 19 years of service out of the original u-joints. ( I off-roaded & worked the snot out of this little truck. ) But when it came time to replace those original u-joints, is when my own nightmare began. Odd ball size, VERY hard to find u-joints, meant I was forced to purchase them from the dealership for a ridiculously high price. The "centri- bearing" or "CV bearing" was replaced as well, and the moment I replaced those 3 u-joints ( with good Spicer's from Toyota ) and the CV bearing, I had vibration right away at certain speeds. This wore out my new u-joints & CV bearing within 18 months. Then I couldn't find those u-joints OR the CV bearing anywhere. Contacted all kinds of drive shaft makers & was told: "Sorry, we don't have a drive shaft for your particular truck". Then I finally stumbled across Tom Woods website. 1 phone call, my tailor made driveshaft was shipped out the very next day. I installed it only 4 days later. PROBLEMS SOLVED. It's loaded with the best quality u-joints, size 1310, which is the most common u-joint made. Smooth as glass and MUCH more durable than my original driveshaft. TOM WOODS IS THE MAN. BEST quality in the industry for THE BEST PRICE. I kid you not.
