I disagree that she took advantage of Forrest, by that time in the movie he is a war hero, a businessman and professional athlete he is an incredibly accomplished MAN who is very aware of what he wants. He proposed to her several seconds earlier. People underestimate Forrest and see him as some man child when no, he is neuro divergent but still has agency and very high functioning.

I agree. People seem to think Forrest is an incapable toddler when he's just a simple man. Simple yes. But not in a vegetable. He is capable of things like recognizing a potential break in and reporting it during the scene where he exposed Watergate. And then his experience in war, he obviously was affected by it as he was able to grasp the concepts he dealt with like death, injury and violence. He wasn't too stupid to realize he was in Vietnam he understood very well because how else would he have survived by taking cover unless he could recognize the danger he was in there?

Also Longlegs just sang in the middle of a conversation and they just rolled with it and continued talking instead of running or sicking their dog on him or shooting him with a double barrel shotgun yeah this movie is realistic AF 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I just got out of the cinema after watching this movie. The movie was something. And the heavy theme really set with me. The revenge that the woman had was so satisfying and beautiful! The ending really threw me off. But this is the movie that will just keep the audience discussing about.

She might have had a glimpse of natural physique ability, but she was possessed by her own doll the whole time. That's the autistic savant ,empty vessel like persona she gives off. The film keeps you in state of horror the whole time, and at the same time keeps you guessing what comes next. Nicolas cage is Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage and he takes full advantage of that and creates a very memorable villain. Much like what Anthony Hopkins was to Silence of the Lambs , Kevin Spacey to 'Seven" or even Sam Jackson to "Unbreakable'". The problem is most peeps watch trailers, tictoc, watch early reviews, view images, etc.. and it just takes the piss out of the whole experience. You go into the theatre expecting a movie based on that premise. Do yourself a favor ,and go into the cinema blind. I bet most peeps that enjoyed or even thought it was a great Horror movie didn't watch any propaganda of the film beforehand. either way I gave it an 8 and a half. 6 of that goes to Nicolas cage performance. I don't need a sequel, but perhaps a prequal, and only if Nick Cage is in it.

Jack being frozen in the end up to his shoulders might be a reference to lucifer in the 9th layer of hell in Dante's Inferno. That precise image and depiction is used, Lucifer being frozen to his head by the gusts of his wings and trapped in the 9th layer

I think both the winter soldier and the avengers should be in the conversation. The Avengers, honestly while the scale of avengers assemble was amazing, I do truly believe the entirety of the scene from I'm always angry to the spin around the avengers beats that in pure feels, and the winter soldier was excellent and not enough people talk about it when discussing the best superhero movies

So refreshing to hear you speak the truth about this movie. I'm so sick of all these 'critics' gushing over the most mediocre horror movies and pretending as if it is they are the best thing since Silence of the Lambs or Halloween. I can't think of any redeeming qualities this movie has. It is so slow paced and repeats the SAME BEAT the entire film. They tried to paint Long Legs as this Buffalo Bill / Hannibal Lector sort of creepiness and terrifying. But Nicholas Cage just had me laughing in disappointment at his portrayal the entire time. I never felt unnerved or scared of his appearance. It literally felt like I was watching an SNL skit. And when the time for the big reveal and twist of the film comes, they do it by dropping a bunch of exposition on us through narration. It would have been so much more satisfying if the main character found something in her home that relates her mother to Long Legs or her mother accidentally admitting something only the killer would know or literally ANYTHING rather than the script talking to us like we're too stupid to grasp the concept and spelling it out for us. And the amount of times the phrase "Hail Satan" is mentioned is ridiculous. It would have been so much more impactful if they ONLY TIME Long Legs said it was moments before bashing his head into the table and killing himself. Not to mention the corny wink and weird ending scene almost playing like a comedy. Overall just a boring, underwhelming, satanic crap from Hollywood. Will never revisit this again

Do you think the comparisons to Silence of the Lambs are also a bit of an unfair bar? Naturally means that you are set up for an underwhelming ending in the third act because of how good SOTL was?

This is why you will never get views with this obvious take..the call represented Lectors continued control over Starling by continuing to embed himself psychologically to her. At the same time she consciously knows that she made a deal with the “devil” but for a good cause. Lector knows that and takes pride in his work. It’s an alternate sick way of victimization especially since she was responsible for others being killed at her expense for trusting him. He also reviles in her childhood trauma by helping her overcome it while simultaneously exploiting it to justify his actions. The phone call is the epitome of his psychopathic/narcissistic personality but again his way of justifying his actions.

Having said this... you viewed... and commented... so this could have been part of a continued strategy of control embedding ourselves psychologically with your mind. Haha I jest Howie, we just enjoy talking about films - and actually really enjoyed your points, though if i may be so bold i'd argue we touched on a couple of these within the longer video of which this was just a snippet. Loved this film and thought this was a really crucial and fulfilling ending.
