Hi, my name is Eddie, I’m a 38-year-old able-bodied stay at home dad whose wife is in the Navy, but unfortunately I’m blind, but I love the fish! I have all my own gear, tackle, and I know how to tie all my own rigs. The only problem is that being blind. I have to find some people to walk down to the beach with and to also help verify what species of salmon I have caught while we’re there other than that I don’t need any extra special help, I have all my own gear and tackle and know how to rig up and fish For floating herring, buzz bombs and rotators, spinners, and I have my own waiters just looking for some cool people to meet up with Monday through Friday during the day while the kids are at school and my wife is at work, let me know if this is! Something you are anybody you know would be open to and tight lines!

You know dragging fish up the beach that you have to release is a disgraceful fisherman. Respect the fishery so we can continue to enjoy it. Unhook in the water, and if you can bend over easily due to age or weight bring a dang net. Really bad fish handling from folks that should know better.

This is such a cool niche fishery I’ve always wanted to try… It’s interesting that there aren’t many KZbin videos or articles written about it though? Is it still effective to fish steel off the beach there these days? How come I don’t hear about other common saltwater steelhead beaches? Bush point seems like a super rare little random fishery and I just have so many questions!! Haha super jealous of y’all catching those salty steel!!!

In your experience , What is the best way of hook set ? Soon as bobber goes down ? Or wait little bit ?
@nwbobberbites43483 жыл бұрын
Many bites will seem half hearted so I just reel in a couple turns. If the fish runs off with it then I set the hook. If It’s a hard strike then thumb it and let the fish set the hook. Now having said that. I kick myself because the fish didn’t follow those rules. with barbless hooks get used to losing quite a few.

I know this is an old post but its great to see fishing on the Duc. I used to spend my summers up there with my grandparents and fathers side of the family. This says upper part of the river and I used to fish the lower part from Frank Leyendecker's place north on both sides on foot. Now the laws have changed so much and foot access has been all but eliminated Ive caught many steelies and a few kings on that river system.

Hi Colten, I was not able to get out to Ft Casey this year. With COVID-19 my wife and I missed lots of medical appointments. We will get caught up in the next month. I pickle the fresh herring in kosher salt after making a small “V” cut in the anal fin so salt penetrates the abdomen. These are only solid feeling fish that held up after fishing. Best results for me were 1 gallon zip bag layer of salt herring layer, salt, another layer. Let them sit overnight in the fridge. Rotate them again in the sealed bag. Leave in the fridge until the majority of herring have shriveled abdomen. Freeze until you need the. I pull out what I want when I want. Add scent day prior. Seems to work for me. Tight lines....

Were you able to make it out? Question... do the fish hangout in the kelp beds? We weren't sure if we should fish where the kelp was or where there wasn't any kelp.
@nwbobberbites43484 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve - I ended up heading back home that day Sick. I will head over again next week. I seem to have the best luck fishing near kelp with herring. Many people fish closer to the point also. My best advice would be: If you see the sea lions diving and working offshore, get your gear out there and fish hard. Tight lines

I saw a couple fish caught but it was pretty slow. We just fished a little bit below where the closed area is. We fished herring in the kelp beds and non kelp beds but no luck for us. We will be out in another week trying our luck again. I really appreciate all you info and tight lines my friend.

Hey there. What part of the tide is the best part to fish? I would like to try fishing the shore but have never done so. Do you get the herring from Possession Point Bait? And what's the earliest ferry you can take from mulkiteo?
@nwbobberbites43484 жыл бұрын
Yes I do get the herring from Possession Point Bait on my way to Ft Casey. I prefer to fish 1 hour after either low or high slack tide. The 5:00 o'clock ferry if I buy fresh bait and it works with the tides. Check their schedule though, sometimes they change.
@stevencardona66604 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the info sir and very much appreciated! Hoping to make it up there this weekend to give it a whirl. Do you fish the herring live? And how has fishing been good as of late?
@nwbobberbites43484 жыл бұрын
As far as the fishing goes, I tried to get out there Monday but got sick and canceled. Better fishing usually starts up mid September for me, but I always go earlier just to get in some practice time. I will try to get out there at least 3 or 4 times this month, not sure what days yet though. I'm retired so usually stick to weekdays unless someone wants to fish with me and they can only go on weekends. Good luck and tight lines.

What kind of herring are you using?
@nwbobberbites43484 жыл бұрын
I buy fresh herring at Possession Point bait on the way to Ft Casey. If I don't use all of them I make a V cut @ the anal fin to make a small opening in their intestinal cavity. Then I sprinkle Kosher salt in the bottom of the bag keeping the herring in a natural shape not bent and twisted. I layer the herring between layers of salt. Remove air from the bag and let them cure in the refrigerator. after 2 or 3 days I feel to find out if they are hardening up. If they are I remove the excess salt and remove all the air then freeze. I sometimes throw in a powder herring cure just for fun. I use frozen only as a last resort. Fresh is best for me.
