Hey thanks for taking the time to make this video. I just got hired to a remote position and I have to take a zoom training course, today was my first day. This is my first time using zoom and I caught my self freaking out every time it was my turn to speak to the point that everything I premeditated to say would just wipe out of my memory. What feels the craziest to me is that I;m a great communicator in person, though I do get social anxiety I feel like I can cope and get thru so muh easier in person versus the video confrences.

I feel that more people suffer from social anxiety but they aren't aware that's what it is. Reading these comments I see when you ask some people why they feel that way, they can't seem to explain it. Which makes it seem like they don't have a reason they deem logical to give you. Social anxiety looks alot like this. Being hyper aware of others and what they may be thinking of you down to the most minute detail. There's a difference in shyness and social anxiety. Some people would benefit from therapy especially if they are in a customer facing role.

Hi.. I just watched this video really late so its okay if you dont reply. Like do you ever get the feeling that everyone is looking at you only or something like that? Or after the meeting they talk crap about you? Like feelings like that
@LisaMitchellexpert
@LisaMitchellexpert 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question, the answer is YES! It really does feel that way sometimes but I can tell you that after several years of video calls and meetings now where a group of people are on at the same time, no on is paying as much attention to you as your fear and no one is taking the time to judge you either. People are too worried about their own anxiety and feeling weird. A good tip is to put your class/call on Speaker view if you can so you only see who's teaching or talking and you don't feel so weirded out by seeing everyone else on the call. Give it a try and let me know if you feel any different!

I'm sorry that you're dealing with that and that it wasn't disclosed during the interview. That's an important detail they should have shared with you prior to your acceptance so you knew what you were getting into. I understand how hard adjusting to this type of learning can be. Everyone has had a big challenge in showing up and feeling uncomfortable. Don't compound the awkward by also setting yourself up for failure by not showing up. Maybe ask your teachers if you can have your camera off part of the time, explain to them how you're paying attention and engaging but just don't feel comfortable being "on" all the time. I hope that helps and you can start showing up again to set yourself up for success!

Im the same as everyone else here, I'm 15 and got a very bad anxiety whenever it's my online class especially our science class. My teacher is a bit strict, I watched her being strict to other students when the students answer is wrong. I was one of the high honor student but I have a very bad anxiety and I got anxiety everyday (science class is the most I had the anxiety), to the point that I doubt myself if I was deserving to my achievement. I was scared to be scolded my teacher, it sucks. I sometimes have suicide thoughts too. I don't reach out to my family or friends cause they can't help me. It sucks, really.

I recently tested positive and our class is on lockdown so we're back to online school. And I've always had anxiety issues, but weirdly I don't feel much anxiety when I'm attending school physically, I definitely feel more anxious during online classes. It feels absolutely terrifying when the teacher starts calling out random names and asks questions. My whole mind just goes blank and I start to panic (or even have an anxiety attack) when I hear my name.

I really hate and feel unconfortable when they are staring at me for too long bcause i feel like they're judging me which they probably are. I hate when the teacher calls me to answer even though i didn't raised my hand like what does she want me to say? I have no idea what to say but the teachers are forcing me of what i think, and when i say i don't know they will think i'm not listening to the discussion but clearly no that's not it, i just don't want to talk cause i have no idea anyways.😔😭 And yeah i ended up leaving the meet cause it's pointless, they should have just disscussed rather than asking someone who didn't even raised they're hand, like it's soo unfair that i'm the one to blame because "i didn't know" I really wanted to gave up and get out in school. I wish one day i'll have no problems!😭

I know it can be so stressful when you feel uncomfortable. As for your voice, the best thing you can do is to take a deep breath before you answer, pause for a moment to center yourself, and then focus on speaking at your lowest natural tone. That should help you sound, and feel, more confident when you speak. Keep showing up, it will get easier!

On my first semester in uni we were kinda forced to join in groups and do a presentation where you wouldn't pass the class if you didn't do it, and during the presentation i was just a mess. I legit thought i was having a heart attack cause i couldn't breath and stop crying. I don't even know what i said, and i've been avoiding classes that require me to talk ever since. I had to fail some of them on purpose because the final exams were also presentations. I feel a lot of guilt because it was tough getting accepted into university, and now the only thing in my way is my own brain. In two weeks i have to do another presentation to close the year, and i don't know what to do :(

Is there anyone who got rid of RBF permanently? If there's anyone plz reply me and share your tips it would help everyone out there. I really wanna know if it cures or not. Or if it cures then how? There isn't a single vedio on yt called "I got rid of my RBF by doing this(bla bla bla)".

@LisaMitchellexpert 3 жыл бұрын
My tip is to practice finding a more neutral "default facial expression" that you feel comfortable putting on your face when you care about how people are perceiving you. It might feel a little weird to "practice" facial expressions but it has been really helpful to me to have one that I can feel when I put it on and know that I'll be happy if I see it in a pic or or camera.
@CottonCandy-xk6ts

I watched so many vedios like this and tried them all (as they're all the same) but it doesn't work much. Whenever I'm not super happy or just happy I come back to my RBF and then it's hard to come out of that again like the first time I tried. Isn't there any proper cure for this???
@LisaMitchellexpert
@LisaMitchellexpert 3 жыл бұрын
Really there's no "cure" other than being aware, which you are, and being intentional about what you put on your face when you need people to perceive you a certain way. It's not fair that you have to manage yourself so carefully but it is one communications tool you can use if you choose.
