I carry A fire extinguisher not only to try to put out a fire in my jeep, but I wouldn’t want to light a forest on fire! Please try to keep our trails open. Thanks

Vehicles with roll bars and steel are safer than any piece of plastic. Just look at jeep crashes and rally car crashes vs normal car crashes.

Why would anyone take a $45 to $100,000 Jeep Wrangler to get beat up & at 5 MPH

I feel like with the Sport, a lift, and decent tires - I would be the limiting factor way more often than the car.

I am a hater, No I don't want a jeep. It's not so much if the jeep itself, it's more like jeep culture. So yes I hate jeeps, jeeps, I hate jeep people, and I hate this video

On the way to my roommates wedding, a Honda sedan ran into the back of my wrangler (we were both traveling down a hill going the same direction). His car flipped and landed upside down, while mine received absolutely no visible damage.

It is designed to be IN 4wd. It's less stressful, than 2wd on those loose rocks and up hill climbs.

The disconnects work in 4 high on the new Rubicons. The Rubicon is great if you want to have a better offroader and have a factory warranty covered.

Although synthetic rope doesn’t store kinetic energy, everyone seems to ignore the fact that they BREAK! Synthetic rope doesn’t hold to offroad use other than rocks, and even then there is no give on rocks so the load is easily exceeded for the rope. Match the weight and LOAD on the winch and cable WILL hold! I have a 2300 lb vehicle with a 12k winch- I am NEVER going to exceed the load unless I am pulling someone else 3-4xs my weight

I got caught in the rain with my 2014 Jeep 4 door Wrangler and had at least an inch of water inside. The 4 way flashers would not shut off (came on automatically), windshield wipers would not work, headlights wouldn't work etc. I wet Shop Vacced it and let it sit in the sun for a few hours and it's all back to normal and working fine. Anybody know what triggers this condition?....what exactly gets wet and causes this?

I have a TJ, and I put a 44 in the rear with 4:56 RP, E locker, and a loc Right in the 30 up front. 2 inch lift with 33s. It does everything I need it to do. The vehicle I would love to have is an 05-06 TJ Rubicon. I’m not particularly fond of the newer jeeps. Too much electronics, and just too big and heavy for my taste.

I looked at the Jeep Sport, Sahara and Willy’s but after test driving several of these models I acquired the Rubicon Hard Rock Edition and am glad I did. This Hard Rock is sweet and very capable out in the elements.

"Off roading" is a very wide topic. Back in the 90s when I started off roading we had fun just treading lightly on trails, hitting mud holes and climbing steep grades. Over the years its seems the definition of off road has become climbing boulders. So your right you dont need a rubicon to have fun. Esp with the newer tech on these JL's.

You can add a lunchbox style locker or weld the rear and front end. But then you end up with a full posi in the rear.

I have steel on one ATV, and synthetic on another ATV of similar weight. I've had the synthetic break once, and it's made me a little gunshy ever since. Luckily when it broke, I was just winching out of a snowbank on flat ground. But if I would've been dangling over a ledge like down in Moab, it would've been a very bad day. I've since learned how to splice synthetic rope in case of breakage, but you need to carry those fids and tape and things in your winch gear bag, and I bet 95% of people who run synthetic rope don't do that! But even with having the tools needed to fix synthetic in the field, it still has a ton of drawbacks like you mentioned. I HATE having to come home and wash and dry and re-spool my rope after a big adventure. It's the last thing I want to do after unpacking and unloading the ATVs after a trip. I also hate how much rope costs, and how easily it frays. Even if you take care of rope, it still seems like it frays more than I want, and having to replace it every other year gets old! Steel is dangerous if it breaks, yes, but I personally have never seen it break. And it's pretty low maintenance. And if it does kink or start getting nasty, just replace it for way cheaper than rope. And if I have to winch over a step or over rocks, I don't have to try and keep a rock guard in the same spot while I am trying to winch. Just let that steel cable cut a notch in the sandstone and keep on going with no worries.

wire rope is the best. just like you said, it can handed the worst of conditions. it can take abuse. syn rope needs to be babied. i have not used my winch much for me. but have recovered a lot of others, and we do not always get to pick and chose the places or conditions.

Here in Maine even the dealership said the Rubicon was over kill. I ended up with a 2021 Sahara JL can’t complain it has taken me places I shouldn’t have gone. But didn’t go alone just in case.

Need? Neither. A Sport can easily be ridiculously capable offroad though. Fab your own anti-sway bar disconnects. Install a winch. Go wheeling. If you want to get more serious, install lunchbox lockers for cheap. Maybe throw on some siped 33" mudders/hybrids. 4:1 Low and 4.10s aren't needed, but even things like that or better are offered from aftermarket vendors.

To make the stock JL even better offroad you need to disconnect the sway bar. Will give you more articulation and more ground contact with all the tires.

A Sport Jeep 30000 some a Rubicon 40000 some, both cost a good coin. So Sport or Rubicon can do advanced rocks, but extremely you need something built.
