I’ve got the same ski and it was seized so I rebuilt it this year and I replaced the fuel selector and filter. I also replaced all fuel lines and rebuilt the carb with mikuni parts but it still won’t run. It’ll start with the choke on for about 15 seconds and then kill and that’s all it’ll get. It will do that over and over and get warm but still won’t start without the carb. I may have done the check valves wrong but I’m not sure. I’ve never pop off tested the carb so I’ll do that but what else could it be?

It is frustrating, isn't it? My ski still does not do well with a cold start. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to burn the starter up before it finally starts up and runs. So, I'm wondering if maybe I have, or still have, an air leak. I swapped everything out except the fuel selector so maybe the plastic is cracked around the fuel line connections. I need to either build or buy a fuel pressure tester and see if that might be an issue. I'm sure it is a typo, but what do you mean by "won't start without the carb"? Are you saying it will not start without putting some fuel down the carb?

Nicely done ! You know this story sounds familiar. I am not a mechanic by no means but I love figuring something new out. I think that is the main draw. It is always a good thing to feel like an asset in life (a productive asset) other than a liability and this is what that does for you. And it has a great result for your family. The time invested translates to good memories with your family. Again well done and thanks for sharing your experience. By the way I get the same anxiety every time a start a new project. Now that I am older, the feeling is even stronger. Always worried I might not be able to carry through but mostly fear of failure I think ! Have fun with family and the jet skis and keep up the good work !

@papadonjetski9535

The fuse blows because your MPEM is bad. I once connected a battery charger to my battery while it was still connected to the ski and it fried the MPEM. Hello! Nice video, very helpful since it stimulates the brain. I pick and choose the additional replies left by your viewers. I skip over the negativity but weigh the safety concerns. Just finished with installation of a two door 30' wide 35' deep all steel garage. I'm happy the roof trusses are designed and bent to provide the cross pieces for bicycle racks and such. The concern being the lifting and hoisting kayaks up for storing when not in use, also removing them from roof racks on vehicles. Your electric hoist is a much better choice over the "by hand manual" method which also is not good for the backbone! Excellent! I especially like the idea of mounting the components to a "ceiling" with clear view of structural design. Please keep an eye on your mountings in the ceiling of your garage, they DO scare me a bit! I haven't watched your 2nd video yet but will after this comment. Thanks to other viewers for pointing out their concerns, use positive reinforcement in comments. Nice goes a long way!

I live in the northwest corner of MS. I'm only about 30 minutes from Memphis, TN. Going slow could be one of a number of things like the jet pump, carbs, compression or fuel lines. If you don't know the history of the jet ski and how it was maintained, then you kinda have to go a step at a time until you find it. Do what I did and search message boards. I find a lot of answers there.

Hey boss , I have a question , I recently bought a 2003 GP1300r about a month ago. The ski runs , took it on the water for a full day and it worked perfect except the fuel hose kept coming off which led to getting fuel in the hull , second time around I took it on the lake and same thing happened and when I tried starting it back up I guess the gas and a spark w the battery created like an explosion but nothing huge , nothing broke just burnt some hairs of my leg 😅 but right after that I let it sit for a while and it started right back up with no problems! What do you think I should do apart from fixing the hose so is longer and doesn’t come off ? Also it has around 190 hours ! And is it normal for it to let out a lot of smoke ?

Man, you are living life on the edge! That ski could have exploded into flames and hurt you seriously. It may have not damaged the ski, just consumed the fumes from the fuel. It is normal to smoke at first, but it should clear up as you ride. If it doesn't then your fuel/oil mixture is off.

@papadonjetski9535
@papadonjetski9535 2 ай бұрын
Sorry for the very late reply. Did you get this figured out already? Yes, the oil injector works in conjunction with your throttle so that you always get the correct amount of oil. The oil pump lever that your cable connects to can be tricky. It is spring loaded, but you have to turn the lever counterclockwise a full rotation or more before the spring takes effect. Is your missing the spring? If it is working correctly then it will work with the engine shut off.
