About Pocahontas, this movie was considered sinful by Southern Baptists because it doesn't show Pocahontas changing religions (which would have taken place about the same time as the movie takes place) and it was one of many reasons that they started a Disney Boycott several years ago. Fourtunately, it got called off because it was so weak.

Oh well, I didn't know. But anyway, did you get any new tapes recently as of now?

I have the original 1984 vhs of Robin Hood. It doesn't show the walt disney and you promo, and it's in a white clamshell. The lid is brown by FUJI. Is it from 1985?!

You know how you make those custom video covers? I was wondering if it was possible for you to like show the old "Classics" logo, and then show the opening to a Disney Animated Classic that wasn't released in that series like 101 Dalmatians or The Jungle Book, or something like that.
@JoeB0y1615 жыл бұрын
I actually did manage to find a copy of that very tape from a book sale (not from a library mind you). I'm kind of lucky I found it because I know they go for at least $50 on eBay and I only got it for only two to three dollars.

Just out of curiosity, if you were to trade any of your disney tapes, which ones would you choose and what would you trade them for???? (Excuse me for asking, but as I said, I'm curious to know.)

I have the 1984 version of Robin Hood. It's the oldest disney tape in my vhs library, but Jaws is the oldest tape in my library.

I've seen a 1989 copy of "Dumbo" at a flea market, with the 1988 tape, but I did NOT see a 1988 copy of "Dumbo" with the 1989 tape.

I know for a fact that The Jungle Book was produced in fullscreen format. In Europe, the recent release of the movie was in widescreen format. However, what they did for that release was slice off the top and bottom of the picture. It's very shameful that they did that. There's no point in cutting off half the picture. I don't know why Disney's European units allowed the mangling to take place.

The Great Mouse Detective is one of the worst films of 1986.

Why do you have multiple copies of the same movie? As far as I can tell, there's no big difference.

Here are some others that you should consider: Fantasia - 1985 101 Dalmatians - 1986 Jungle Book - 1985 The Rescuers - 1989 Great Mouse Detective - 1986/87 Oliver & Company - 1989

You know, "Snow White" and "Oliver & Company" weren't released in the Walt Disney Classics series either. Cool artwork, btw.

What? No WDHV label on the spine of "The Sword in the Stone"? How can that be?

Thanks for sharing! I have an extensive Disney video (white clamshell from the 80's) collection too. They are all in Beta, though and who knows when I'll ever get to watch them.

You should make like a "Walt Disney Classics VHS History" since you have all these original VHS copies in your collection! I can help you with it if you want. Just send me a PM for details.

I heard a rumor that the PE edition of "The Jungle Book" was dropping out July 2009 and then I heard January 2010. I'm guessing it's probably dropping out January 31, 2010 because a movie would never drop out of print in the summer. More likely in the winter and spring is when a movie would drop out.
@systemoperator16 жыл бұрын
Would that make the movie a widescreen movie.
@RetroDakota16 жыл бұрын
Why do you say that? DVD does have a higher picture quality than VHS. Plus, they can be played many more times than a VHS tape could.
@corplhicks16 жыл бұрын
I say you're doing great, man. My wife and I are expecting our first kid so we bought a VCR and around 30 or so old white clamshell titles. I'm 29, so I grew up on that aesthetic. I still want to buy some betas as well. I still think that DVD quality is an ironic joke in comparison to VHS and BETA. Go ahead, people; shoot me.

Cool! You can just drop me a private message, either via KZbin or via Ebay (my Ebay username is hmster). If you don't want the video now, don't worry, you don't need to rush. I've had that video for years now, and it's not going anywhere. Whenever you want it, just send me a message!

I don't blame you at all, I'd feel very uncomfortable giving my private information as well. However, if you change your mind in the future, let me know, and I can set up a private auction on Ebay (i've got 100 or so positive feedbacks on my Ebay account, and no negatives!).
