Are you seeing the game and in my opinion to translations are actually improving even though it's not exactly the same line the new lines are actually have more personality especially with a certain fat guard / Soldier who has so much personality and is brutally honest about everything it just says what comes to his mind and has more personality than most of the characters. It's the same with all the other characters each of them have a different line but are improved.

May definitely heard of the localization controversy, pretty much some translators and some game companies have literally been changing the Japanese dialogue and pretty much most games, movies, and anime and it's been going on since the '80s till now. most people didn't notice cuz not everyone understood Japanese that well but over time I've heard from Japanese fans and fans that actually understand Japanese that most of the dialogue has been changed from the original cuz They have a change it from Japanese to English it is not exactly perfect cuz there's some janky lines that are freaking hilarious, but classic sometimes they change a little too much and change entire plot lines to make it more American friendly like they cut down most of the cussing or cut out bloody scenes of a character dying violently or they change entire plot lines to make it easier for people to read. Well now FUNimation and other anime companies have been hit hard because some of the translators and some voice actors are pretty much spouting nonsense about changing the lines because those written back in the '80s and further back and let's just say Japanese fans and fans and understand Japanese we're not okay with that. Funimation pretty much disappeared at that point because of translation controversy, some of the complaints from the fans of FUNimation and other anime companies are deciding to use AI to translate from now on and. I just heard recently that voice actors and probably some translators on strike it's only what I've heard recently hence why this controversy people are now being more critical about every single change in a Japanese game it also explains why some games that are Japanese only are not translated they don't want it to be changed that's what I have to literally wait years just to get a new game from Japan it's a controversy starting to get ridiculous now.

im currently just arriving in the 4th city, and this game rules, never thought atlus would be able to make an actually hard game again but i am pleasantly surprised. doing a hard run rn with a mage/seeker build on my mc, and my fav character is probably junah my only real complaint with the game is the calendar system. i think the game benefits from having a calendar system, but i think they should have tweaked it to be a sort of middle ground between smt5 and persona. have a day night cycle that progresses whether you do something or not, keep it so you have set dates to complete the main quest by, but dont lock me to 1/2 timeslots a day. this game is begging you to explore everything through its world and combat design but then the calendar system clashes with that by disincentivising exploration (most sidequest dungeons take up 2-3 days of travel, which is alot of time to burn on the spot)

Hi David. Here’s a simple explanation of anti-aliasing for games: it’s meant to reduce jagged lines and similar artifacts anywhere in the image, not just the characters. On PS5 or Xbox, if you’re ever watching a shot in the gauntlet runner or similar and as the camera bobs up and down you notice that some mostly horizontal steps or wood in the background seems to be jagged and constantly changing shape, those are aliasing artifacts. We’ve had different methods of getting around that since I got into creating computer graphics in the 90s but what Metaphor originally used on PC was a rather simple one, so I’ll use the example of super-sampling (not saying that’s what they used but just to illustrate the idea). All the super-sampling means is that you render at a higher resolution (like 8K) than downscale that to the display resolution (say 4K), using tons of extra resources in the process. It works but the framerate goes way down. There are a ton of alternatives to this that use far fewer resources such as temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) which compares frames in a row to try to reduce jagged aliasing artifacts when parts of the image look pretty similar from frame to frame (like the stair edges when the camera barely moves). Different methods are better or worse at getting rid of different artifacts and some of the methods use AI to help (like DLS/DLAA from Nvidia or XESS). The anti-aliasing methods that Atlus has enabled in the update (FXAA which has been around since 2009 and SMAA which has been around since 2011) are neither new nor advanced. Most people complaining were either hoping for support for a recent decent Temporal Anti-Aliasing or recent manufacturer optimized (Nvidia, AMD, Intel) solution support, preferably with AI. This game existing validates my disappointment in Soul Hackers 2 and SMT V. I knew ATLUS could surpass Strange Journey, Digital Devil Saga, SMT IV, Persona 5 Royal. and Metaphor is the game I was waiting for.

Anti-Aliasing is a technique used to smooth out raw pixels on the edges of objects or characters in a game for crisper visuals essentially. There was and still are problems where a lot of objects would "shimmer" due to camera movement. AA helps with that. There are many different executions of it and Atlus chose two. SMAA stands for Subpixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing and is a slower AA technique and calculates blending and better edge detection; has a higher performance cost. FXAA which stands for Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing is a much faster technique but it's quality can look a bit blotchy and a bit blurry because it's not as accurate; imo the choice Steam Deck users should use since its performant and it looks better at lower resolutions. Pretty primitive techniques but hey it's something. Hope this helps!

Its okay, dont like the grind, and the best way to farm is not fight at all just punch weaker enemies... I preffer SMT V power up objects... enemies are not easy but as good persona kind of games the social links gives you too much buffs and makes the fights a joke

Anti-Aliasing is as you said. With it on, the texture renderer of the game engine will smooth out the pixelation of models so that your Monitor can display the graphics of your game. With it off, the edges are compressed and pixelated and not very pleasing to the eye. This is because the OG models of characters(environments, etc) are big files and in order to optimize a game, devs have to test how much data that a graphic card is supposed to render of the game PER second. Very short description of the process but I hope I was able to get more insight.

This is definitely a game that sells over time, it's probably going to get nominated for game of the year, Atlus games and Sega games in general go on sale several times a year and the Demo would always be playable so you can always test it out. Side note: I think there is a very good chance that more future Atlus games will get demos because the Demo from Metaphor Refantazio has helped the game so much that I wouldn't be surprised if games like P6 and other future Atlus games also get a Demo to get

You nailed the anti-alli, it’s more notable in bigger screen so probably tv in 1080p you can see easily and throw you a bit off. I’m on a monitor so I noticed a bit

I feel like it sold less because a combination of it being a new IP and also Atlus' rerelease problem. Even if you don't agree that they do or not it is undeniable that there are people that view it that way. With the positive reception of Metaphor, I am fully convinced that it is getting the "Golden/Redux/Perfect Chronology/Royal/Maniax/Vengeance/Overclocked/Reload/Portable" treatment. I'll wait 2 years when they announce that version to buy it.

@@Vexdaegus weren't all these games originally 60-80 hours and the remake treatment gives them another 40-60 hours? They were complete solid games before getting the remake treatment, only got it because they were so popular. And it's like having extra of your favorite game. But keep only buying the remakes. Having higher sales concerns numbers on the remake compared to the original just means Atlas will do that more 😇

One thing to mention about the physical/digital split is that here in the west the ps4 version is exclusively digital, so considering the amount of ps4s around the globe (around 120 million) that would skew the digital copy sales higher than what it would normally be at least by a good amount

2:05 SMAA = Subpixel Morphological anti-aliasing FXAA = Fast approximate anti-aliasing SMAA is more superior than FXAA (I’m not gonna detail about it because it’s a lot of technique term) but of course SMAA come with higher demanding pc than FXAA

Haha definitely not the best. It’s just new bro. I finished it this morning and it was soo god damn easy. I honestly don’t remember losing my party….not 1 time. Any SMT youl play will challenge you much better and more thoroughly

The only negative I have of this masterpiece (and it IS a masterpiece) is that I expected it to be a bit longer. The claim was it was roughly the length of Persona 5 vanilla but thats not accurate. Its probably about 2/3rds as long. And it makes me wonder if things were changed to meet deadlines? Originally they said there were so many locales and content that it would be impossible to see it all in one go, but there is more than enough time to do everything, which is fine as I prefer being able to 100 percent in one try, but it makes me wonder if towns, areas, and playable characters were cut for the sake of deadlines....For example, Caterina has a design, and class that makes me think she was intended to be playable. I could be wrong, of course...I won't say how many playable character's there are for spoiler reasons, but usually Atlus RPGs have bigger playable casts...... Of course I could be wrong in my perspective on all this, But its how it seems to me. Anyone else?

Enjoyed the video and had a couple suggestions. First, since different players grind different amounts, it would help a ton next time if you mentioned the in-game date you’re on since that makes it easy to know if we got to that part without spoiling events/locations. Second, in regards to your party, I’m a lot farther along and would say that if you’re having trouble with your party that swapping the merchant for a gunner is a good start (also using an inherited skill slot for the healer ability Medi is a good default to help you easily heal your party during battle). The way I played this game was that I would prioritise magic over anything else for my protag, dump strength, agility and luck. Use Mage, Healer and Seeker lineages for him. Strohl is an absolute strength unit as he prioritises it over any other stat, give him the warrior lineage and if you're running out of mp in the early game you can switch to the brawler archetype, or the merchant archetype later on. When I unlocked the commander lineage I gave it to him cuz ir really fits him and finally gives him great party support skills while also making use of his strength stat. Hulkenberg's best stat is endurance so make sure to get the most out of it with the knight lineages. You can give her the mage lineage for synthesis or weakness exploiting purposes (it also gets useful for getting the next step in the knight lineage), or even some strength based archetype cuz it's the second best stat for her I believe. I recommend giving the next party member who prioritises agility over anything else, the thief, gunner, merchant and also the faker lineage until you get the next party member who prioritises magic and give the faker to them since it suits them better. Can't say anything for the last party members but I think the one who gets the Berserker archetype might also work well with a brawler, and the one who gets the summoner lineage needs the seeker archetype for a very late game unlock for them from what I know But all of this doesn't change the fact that if it works for you and gives you fun then you by all means stick to it. No need to optimise the fun out of a game like I very often catch myself doing.
