The text tool is not seen in my canva panel.what should i do??
@CaughtbyDesign23 күн бұрын
The Canva interface has changed a bit since this tutorial was recorded. Once you've created a text box (by clicking on the Text tool on the left of the screen and then on "Add a text box" in the menu panel that pops up), you should see some options at the top of the screen, including the font name and point size. When you click on the font name, a panel will open up on the right of your screen with more options, including the "Upload a font" box at the bottom of the panel. Hope this helps!

Just found out about this paint. I am a bit confused - why the cling film? Can I not just do matble effect direct to the cardstock ?
@CaughtbyDesign27 күн бұрын
Yes, you can certainly add it directly to the cardstock! The plastic wrap was just a simple way to do it for those of us who aren't as skilled with creating effects like that with a paintbrush ;)

Hi! I bought a font pack from etsy, but it seems as though all of the file names are for adobe. Is there any way i can get around this? The files end in ai, dfx, eps, png, svg. Thank You
@CaughtbyDesign3 ай бұрын
It sounds like you purchased an image file, not an actual font. That happens quite often with decorative alphabets sold on Etsy and other places, and it can be very confusing. No matter what program you use, each letter is a separate image and you have to combine the images to create a word. (You can't simply type out text in the chosen "font".) Both the PNG and the SVG file types will work in Canva, but you will need to separately upload each image that you want to use and then combine them on the design page. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the wonderful video! I really like the idea using abstract designs. I’d bet painting on a Gelli Plate would be useful, that’s how I create abstract designs prints on specialty papers. How would you transfer this to a glass jar? Could you transfer the painted image to parchment or other paper, tape it to the jar, then wrap in sublimation shrink wrap film? Does the glass jar need to be specially prepped? Could you paint on the jar directly?
@CaughtbyDesign6 ай бұрын
Hi Marie! I have used gelli plates with Artesprix inks, markers, and paints and they worked very well with all. If you want to sublimate onto a glass jar, it does need to have a polyester coating on it to accept the sublimation ink. As long as you have a sublimation-ready jar, you can transfer the design exactly as you mentioned - tape it onto the jar, wrap the jar in sublimation shrink wrap, and then use a convection oven to sublimate. (You can also use a mug press if you have the right size to fit your jar.) Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, let me know.

Thank you. Is it possible to switch from STRAIGHT to CURVED points while drawing with the line tool without having to end the line and start a new line? I do a lot of drawing here and need to switch mid draw. for example in my embroidery digitizing software I can draw with straight points, then if i need the next point to be a curve i just hold control, drop the curved point, then release control to continue with straight. never having to end the segment. i cant seem to figure this on out here and its very frustrating
@CaughtbyDesign6 ай бұрын
Hello! It *is* possible to switch from straight to curved points, but there's a bit of a trick to it. The keyboard shortcut for straight lines is \ and the shortcut for curved lines is c. Once you draw the straight line, press c and the tool will change to drawing a curve. If you want to go back to drawing a straight line, press \. Once you've completed the drawing, each segment will be separate, even though the connection points between the straight and curved lines may look like they are touching. Here's how to make it one continuous line: Select the entire drawing and choose Make a Compound Path. Once you have a created a compound path, double-click on the design to enter point-editing mode and look for bright red dots that indicate an open path (there should be an open path everywhere it changes from straight to curved and vice-versa). Select the bright red dot and move it until it connects with the point next to it (which will also be a bright red dot). You may need to zoom into see it, but the points will almost act as magnets when you get them close to one another and they will snap together. Editing the points in this way sounds time-consuming, but it really isn't - and should be much faster than switching between the Draw a Line and Draw a Curve tools in the tool menu. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out to me again and I'll be glad to help. Thanks for watching the tutorial!

@CaughtbyDesign7 ай бұрын
Hi Sandy! The Cameo 4 should be able to cut 2mm chipboard, but if the chipboard is a true 2mm depth you may need the 3mm blade (so that the blade depth is slightly deeper than the exact depth of the chipboard). I also recommend that you try making multiple passes to get a successful cut. Hope this helps!

If you are trying to add a font through the Brand Kit, Canva has changed the interface since the tutorial was recorded. I have added some notes in the video description that should help.
