This video just got me through repairing my speedo stuck at 30mph. It wasn't necessarily oil but just a little but of crud on the speed bucket. I sprayed it out with brake cleaner, sprayed the spring off too. Put it back together and works perfect.

@@Freejohnsilkyputty I'm not 100% on the part number but it's just a small bulb that has two wires that bend over the bulb part almost like a Christmas tree bulb That's what they look like lots of shops stores may have them. Good luck.

That rubber piece doesn’t go there. You cage nuts weren’t there because they used a plastic snap in friction nut. If one of the 4 keeper arms broke off, they would fall out. And almost all of them are now broken.
@samaxe6495 Жыл бұрын
The “clip” is the ground for the IP. I’m guessing this dash has been disassembled before because the anti-rattle cushions are on the inner cluster bezel rather than on top of the outer bezel. Also, where is the gasket that goes between the lens and the inner bezel? Is it simply not necessary?

Dan; Well I worked on it over the weekend and found the strap was there but still not sure the ground wire is on the correct screw (may not be a problem though). Did find that some of the lights where on, but dim. I could not tell this before because of too much outside light coming in. Shut door and turned off lights and saw that they where on. Fixed a couple of bulbs that wern't working because of the contacts. Cleaned and bent up a little so they would make good contact. SO, seem to be on the right track, glad it wasn't the wiring plastic. Thanks

You may want to order new bulbs. For some reason E1 or A1 when you order them out of the catalog you can go to couple different vendors that sells for older cars

Dan; I have the Factory wiring diagram, but I still don't quite get where they want the ground connected so it interfaces with the plastic wiring plate. Thought you might remember where you disconnected yours. I am sure someone else has been into mine before. They had a burglar alarm system installed (rough job) and I have removed it and cleaned up the wiring in that area under dash panel. Let me know, Thanks, Roger M

Doesn't the foiled part slide in to the shoe. I would start there. Mine was a bit corroded and in uswd a pencil eraser to clean up all contacts. CAUTION one of the (e1 or a1) bulbs feeds v plus to altinator for it to get a positive feed.

Hi mate I've got a 66 Bel Air and the speedo seems to get stuck sometimes. Do I have to take the whole metal dash including the glove-box off to get to the dash cluster? Or is there a way to get just the cluster itself out? I've fixed a lot of Chevy truck clusters before but not sure how to attack this Bel Air cluster. Cheers for your videos.

Hi Dan, '66 owner here and looking to replace all the dash bulbs. Excellent videos you've posted; I have a question: when purchasing new LED's, do I buy all white? Or do I need the matching colors ... white for speedo, green for blinkers, etc.? I counted 15 bulbs on the back of your dash ....

Watch using led's. Although it's a bulb it's still a diode. Meaning flow in one direction sometimes. The bulbs are clear, no colors
