Who's the prick that came up with this 6/8 timing or whatever it is. I've been learning for several months now. I thought if this song is in 4/4 I could maybe work on it. However I haven't even dove into different time signatures yet

This took me forever to get (and a lot of youtube research), but at 1:42 you've got the timing wrong. It's not "& a 1". It's "1e&". If you count it and play it right there's no 5/4 or 7/8 bars. It's all in 4/4.
