Check your title page. It says October, 2024. I don't think so since that hasn't happened yet.

As an alum, I was embarrassed by the the reports of disrespect toward a former POTUS by the Tiger band this past weekend. Hoping the reports were wrong but saw it on a Tiger board.

Please excuse my typos in the previous comment. The tradition actually started at the start of the fall semester of 1978. Likewise, the correct spelling for the locations mentioned should be "Holtzendorff" Hall and "Harcombe" Dinning Hall. I apologize for the errors.

The tradition of Cook's Brick did not start in the 1980's but in the fall of 1979. We had recently moved the band room from underneath Harcomb Commons Dining Facility to the basement of the YMCA (Holtzendorfer Hall). The new band room complex would be where the swimming pool was formerly located. I was cleaning out the old locker room adjacent to the old pool so that the male Tiger Band members could change into their uniforms. We had hung poster boards with motivational lyrics on the walls. It was dirty and stuffy so there was a brick there which we used to prop open the door for ventilation. Before our first home game I moved the brink to the door leading outside. After warming up Rob Schwehr, Band Commander, and I, the Vice-Commander, stood by the brick and asked each band member to touch it on the way out in a similar fashion as the tradition of Howard's Rock. After graduating in 1979, I went on to become a band director myself and remained close to Bruce Cook who was my best man when I got married in 1983.

Why do you use The Orange Bowl March as one of your Fight Songs? It was written by Henry Fillmore, and along with The Man of the Hour March is closely associated with The University of Miami Band of the Hour. Go Canes

Any original Fight songs as Tiger Rag is used by so many schools. BTW, Clemson puts LSU to shame.
@zs4580 Жыл бұрын
No idea, they've used it in their pregame show since the early 70s. Perhaps it's because Clemson went to the Orange Bowl a couple times previously in their history, or maybe they just liked the song. They did add the little 4 note flourish to start the song though, called "Sock It to 'Em"

Tiger band is awesome but it's kind of sad to me that most of these are postseason games. when I was in tiger band we took two full band trips a year to some awesome regular season destinations and saw some really cool football stadiums in person.
