If you add 6-10 upgraded food markets that will stop your loose of crop in increase your months of food on hand.

Very True, my normal approach is to put a big box that is belt fed from the food areas and then into the market as a way of increasing the amount of food on hand

The dreaded spiral of death from food. Yea leaving the beacon on didn't help but I think your biggest problems is you built layout for level 2 too much and focus on those future bult layout you forgot about feeding the people and needs. You had access to sand at the little beach that could have been filled around instead of ship dock and that force you to use rock and crush it all the down to sand. All those extra recourses could have been used upgrade farm and crop rotation

All very good points, and I hope other people watching read your comment, This was a very good teaching moment though and very much easier to recover from this early than if it happened in a few hundred more game years :)

Good start. And interesting build, you went for a mini mall before the blue research. I've seen that only a couple times before.

Yeah I only seen it done once and thought it would help to avoid needing to insert Cuts to keep the progress going
