I find it's best to start with walks in your local area - You can then build up to breweries and pubs. Once you feel like you're ready, you can take your dog camping (and I mean real camping, under canvas & not in a composite panelled box). Eventually you can even take him on fishing boats. Be sure to remember, just because Fred's in a boat on the water, doesn't mean he's hydrated. He needs to be drinking the water, even more on a hot day (and allow for pee breaks, Nugget will hold on for over 12 hours because she can't yet squat off the side).

I love camping with my dogs, wouldn't go without them. Being surrounded by National parks is our biggest challenge finding those dog friendly spots is part of the challenge :)
@wolf.n.nuggetКүн бұрын
Tell me about it! National Parks everywhere! - It's a shame they typically blanket ban dogs, chainsaws, vehicle camping and so much more, yet opening a huge mine in a 'conservation area' seems to be ok. 🤔 Patches of crown land and state forests are my go to when searching for a dog friendly spot - They're almost always a winner.

Did you notice a problem when driving. Or visually noticed the grease.
@wolf.n.nuggetАй бұрын
I've only once noticed a problem when driving, most of the times I've seen the damage before feeling it. It's 100% worth having a spare, if you have a V6 rok or an auto 4 banger you're going no-where if a CV is completely cactus.
@mudheli9110Ай бұрын
@@wolf.n.nugget great to know thanks. I thought if it completely fails, you drive home without it.
@wolf.n.nuggetАй бұрын
On most cars you can, however most Amarok's donthave a centre lock. You'll just sit there with it sending drive through the front to the now open side of the diff. youtube.com/@darksidedevelopments have some cool videos on fully locking an Amarok. I'm not sure that anyone in Australia does it.

Hey mate, were you replacing the whole CV just becuase of the split rubber boot? Or was there more internal damage? Is it possible to just replace the boot or do you typically just replace the whole thing?
@wolf.n.nugget4 ай бұрын
Yes, I was replacing the whole cv because of the boot. I believe you can replace just the boot (dont quote me on this) however you need to press parts off/on and repack the bearings/grease. I've tried it once before and managed to get it back together only to realise it was off by ⅙ and seized up. It went straight into the bin, it's not worth the time or hassle.

Could a 4x4 get to that place without letting air out of the tyres? Did you raise your Amarok?
@wolf.n.nugget5 ай бұрын
It depends exactly what location you're referring to. I believe you could however it may vary based on your cars wading depth. If you flick through an IG message with your car model and desired location I should be able to tell you how achievable it is. I'd still drop some air. If you're normally Running 40 pound and drop to 30, it'll be fine to get there and back from Lithgow and it might just save you a tyre or a recovery - not to mention a more comfortable ride.

Just been there over the weekend. I was being lazy not airing down although I had compressor on board and it was an uncomfortable drive. So yes you can get away without airing down, but you just have to go real slow and be ready to get thrown around in the car... and maybe some breakages. 😁

How do you find the bush-company awning?
@wolf.n.nugget Жыл бұрын
I love it. I've had it in 40+km/h winds on the edge of a cliff. Yes the car rocks a lot and with any other product you'd be shitting yourself about a breakage, but the Bush Company products are built the toughest out of anything i've come across. It provides great shade, I'll often hang my UE Boom off the tie down eyelets, sopping wet towels off the arms and cops a flogging in it's bag when folded up (Great quality zipper and hasn't shown a single sign of needing replacement). There's zero leakage between the awning and my tent which is a huge plus as this is a common problem for other products. My gripes are: - The walls are heinously expensive if you want to get them - The walls only go up/down, they don't flare out like most others - When it rains it tends to pool. I think this is because the canvas stretches ever so slightly but the velcro around the edges for the walls doesn't. You need to slack it off substantially which is fine when it's rainy with no wind, but if there's wind you need to peg the guys wires down from the middle of each section.
@10mmsocketAdventures Жыл бұрын
@wolf.n.nugget Totally agree on the walls$$$, I can't justify the cost. I just recently finished a trip to Bathurst 1000 and we had some winds and rain, it was very impressive in those conditions. 👏

The reason that these places are so nice and dog friendly is because people didn't put then on KZbin. Now they have become crowded and people leave there rubbish for others to clean up. I hope putting your mug on KZbin makes you feel special. You Tuber's need to stop posting and ruining places.

Right now I'd have no issue taking a POS Mazda 121 the whole way though. As mentioned the road is freshly graded, the road you see in the video is as bad as it gets (a smooth, unsealed, dusty road). I've never seen the track in a shape where you couldn't get an X-Trail through it. When it is rutted out and rocky you can just let some extra air out and take it slow. I've seen the likes of X-Trails and Rav 4's make it through the southern parts of Litchfield NP. If the water isn't too deep, take it slow, give way to others and it's not an issue.
