Hello friend, what line length were you using? 12m? it seems short lines in the video but it could be an optical illusion. Many thanks

Excellent description of how the Orbit feels - Nice to see a video that doesn't just say "loops better, jumps higher, rides well overpowered" with nothing to back it up. I can confirm the light bar pressure making you feel like you aren't lit and have a comfortable ride when in fact you are very powered and are going to jump big. Some people might hate it but I'm loving it, when you do go for the jump you go big even if you didn't feel like you have power. Takes some getting used to. In addition it helps stay out for longer sessions without getting your arms tired, and it makes looping with grabs easier (need less power to loop the kite). For me at 80kg the 9m is rideable from 18-40 knots, but it is enjoyable when gusts are at the 23-35 knots range.

Tried out the 8m orbit 2022 with a core sensor 3 bar, wouldent recommend that due to the difference on v-position. Otherwise smooth kite when everything plays well.
@moritzm21432 жыл бұрын
Why didn’t you like it? I want to test just that because I don’t like the north bar. If iit doesn’t work with my core bar, I’ll buying the re-edit bar or any bar that has the same auto untwist as the core bar…
@galzohar Жыл бұрын
@@moritzm2143 I also tried an Orbit once with a core bar. It was crap and if I didn't know it was due to the bar I would have never considered even trying the kite - It was that bad (it would stall and lack power). Could have also been the bar being old rather than the V split, no way for me to tell, but still it is generally not recommended to use a V split that the kite wasn't designed for. With a North bar - I'm loving it.
@moritzm2143 Жыл бұрын
@@galzohar oh that's interesting, thanks! It makes sense that it lacks power with the core bar since the Y-lines aren't directly going to their attachment points but take a way around the outside. Thus shortening the power lines while being at an angle. I guess I'll have to shorten the back lines accordingly. But even than the angle of the power lines to the middle pigtails is different than intended. I should buy a North/Reedin bar. I'm not smarter than the north designers...

Shaun you know the kite weight of the 12 and 10 meters sizes?
@user-bb8wf9gb7j2 жыл бұрын
This bar does not automatically untwist the middle lines like other new bars. This causes the middle two lines to fray due to friction. You can manually untwist by using the ball near the chickenloop. But all this does is twist the flagout line in the process. Poor design when paired with these kites that need to loop just to land safely.
@RebelwithaShotgun Жыл бұрын
This is what’s holding me back to go for the Orbits. The Navigator has some very bad reviews by kiters that loop a lot. Also the depower cannot be fixed and keeps flapping while riding (with added risks as well). Anyone know of a good low V bar? The Sensor 3 and Click bar are unfortunately Y bars.

Cool so this kite is easier to loop than the orbit for the "beginner looper"? 😁
@shaunbennett55102 жыл бұрын
I’d say so for sure! I started looping 3 strut kites because they were faster. The Orbit is unique because it’s a 5 strut designed for loops. But the reach is definitely an easier looping kite for beginners

Great vid thanks for showing everyone. I was wondering if it was possible to over tighten the bolts as I saw on another vid that I am supposed to hear some sort of click when the bolts are tight enough then you back turn half a turn. is there any truth to that.

Notes: ~ Be advised that the rope behind the plastic spreader bar can wear ~50% *more* than what is visible on the outside. ~ When installing the end with the figure eight knot (opposite the end with the rope lock) be sure to orient the knot so that the rope drops down straight through the hole in the spreader bar. Otherwise the rope will bend through the hole in the spreader bar causing unnecessary wear.

For a long time I thought this was all just marketing speech. Demo'ed a '21 Orbit 12m in sketchy conditions, instantly fell in love. Got my 10m a few days ago and had a mega session yesterday (thanks wind-god!). This kite is just MEGA. I'm riding 11m Edge and 10m Orbit now. 16-35 knots covered with having a choice depending on the mood when it's 22-26 knots. I really love kiteboarding right now!

Hey Shaun, I'm a 75kg intermediate rider. Do bit of everything at intermediate level, hooked tricks with TT, wave riding , prob give unhooked a try this season, injured shoulder before so kept with hooked. Thinking of getting set of reaches. In past I've really liked having the kite size with wind right in sweet spot as makes progression easier. Hence had a kites quite close together 10m 12m 14m. Was thinking a 9m, 11m and 13m but is there much advantage in light wind for someone my weight getting the 15m rather than the 13m. In which case I might get 9 12 and 15. I mostly use an 11m drifter at the moment and am typically a bit underpowered here on the Gold Coast on TT, but hear the 11m reach has more power so could be good option as main kite... Any advice most welcome. Thanks

hey, how would you rate Reach as a kite for wakestyle/unhooked riding ?
@benswart13 жыл бұрын
The pulse is better for wakestyle, in light wind the reach is great but gets overpowered quickly. Such a good kite for looping.
@vikingh30083 жыл бұрын
So if buying the long rope kit, you get the plastic bit and metal ring, so you can basically convert your hook model to a slider easily
@TheJunglejim19713 жыл бұрын
no you need to buy the steel bracing behind the spreader bars that accommodates the ropes as the hook on the kite spreader bar is welded and all the holes are welded closed
