Not even going to lie, when i watched your space exploration video, the only real high quality thing i've seen up to that point was ironically another space mod, twilight forest, and shaders, but when i saw the astronomical amount of detail, i cried cause, this game i played with my dad, and had 16x16 graphics, now has this? genuinely i hope you never stop doing what you love as it's shown to be amazing. Thank you doctor4t/r4tmaid.

Hello, sorry to hear that the community been criticizing your paywall method. I kind of had the same view before but after hearing your video on paywall makes complete sense. But I believe that the pricing must be reasonable. Every modded or fan project has those people who feel entitled to free stuff like mods. Most of the community is not like that. So, don't stop progress of this modpack because of these users. I have seen projects cancelled because people demanded to be free and be done faster.

When you do release neverend and might revamp level 1 and 2 do you think you will release the original version of it when you released the video? It would still kinda be good to intake the feeling of the original minimal pools.

Hi. I'm not part of the "eula-enforcers" part of the community, but you might want to polish a little bit the argument of the "eula" referring to hacked clients. The Physics mod actually had a situation with Mojang regarding eula compliance. With the physics mod not being a hacked client, it means that (at least nowadays) Mojang is enforcing their eula for regular mods as well. This is just a note so you can think on how to defend urself when the actual haters come. Leaving that aside, I kind of get why that part of the eula exists, and why it should be enforced, but it is a shame that it also affects developers that genuinely want to contribute with something amazing for the community, but can't because... well, with mods being free means that developing them cannot be a part/full time job.
@r4tmaid2 сағат бұрын
I get your point, but when it comes to the physics mod, that's almost an entirely different debate. As per the words of my good friend Ryan, the physics mod was a widely considered aggressive monetization that was basically selling a mod for a fee, while a "free version" of the mod was essentially a mass distributed advertisement for the paid version, and my guess is that that was the issue Mojang had with it, and therefore deciding to use the encompassing terms of the EULA to be able to take down something they were not okay with, just like Mojang is welcome to use the EULA to take down my supporter rewards if they're not okay with it. I just gave a bit of history on the clause, because people use it left and right without knowing exactly what it means nor its purpose, but like I said, at the end, it is still very much a gray area, and if Mojang isn't happy with where I stand in it it ultimately is up to them to judge me, not others.
@osprober2 сағат бұрын
@@r4tmaid Cool, I never saw the situation with the physics mod from that pov. And yh, I get that people just happened to read that part of the EULA (sometimes didn't even read it themselves, just saw a random guy on yt complaining abt it and repeat blindly whatever they said) and just harass the people making mods for it. Actually, in the "minecraft servers" community we also get people like this, just that is a bit easier to ignore them because making servers is a bit niche on itself, and the nature of spigot happened to create a grey area were people could monetize their work. I just came from another video that shared a similar topic regarding minecraft plugins and mods being sold, probably that's how I ended up here. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read me! Not sure if I made myself clear in the original comment, but I'm not against people monetizing their work or, in your case, paywalling them because you don't feel the mods are complete or don't acknowledge them as an serious project. People mostly don't understand the huge responsibility behind developing something. Even if the final product is "complete" the dev has to patch bugs, update the mod to newer versions and test the changes before releasing them to the public. Without taking into account the people that are... too "blunt"... when expressing their opinions.

Oh God. Rat speaks about a somewhat neuanced and serious topic. Chat: WHY THE FK IS THERE A HOUSE MADE OF CRAFTINGTABLES IN THE RIVER. and it just keeps going XD but i for my part have nothing against paid stuff. I love Jeracraft and if im remembering correctly most if not all his map creations are for his patreon or whatever only and i dont so anything wrong with that. First of all you dont take.... RAID SHADOW LEGENDS! sponosrships (whethere youre not being offered sponsors or you dont take them for personal reasons dont matter here, atleast not for me) You upload once in a blue moon with a Video of 40mins to uhh idk almost 3 1/2 hours! and as debateable as "how much works goes into it" is its still a lot of work over a few months every single time with you makin the mod, sometimes solo, sometimes with help and damn, that fluid animations for the ink rain and submerge... mhmm gorgeous. idk how you do it with like script / freestyle performing or one take / as many as it takes for a good result doesnt matter, all that still takes time and effort. lookie me explaining to the guy how much work goes into his own stuff xD Point is the mods are still your work and its still your and everybody elses choice whether or not YOU wanna monetize them and US whether or not we are fine with tipping one of our favourite creator for his work either way on either side is comepletely understandable (in the sense of just not supporting him financially instead of not supporting him and then pirating the mod) not that i condone piracy but its more of a spectrum between yes and no rather then just being binary yes or no. Ususally id say dont listen to those people but i think we learned what can happen when you loose sight and get corrupted with power. but damn, seriously some of the best 3 1/2 hours of minecraft content in the last 5 years

Paywalling mods that are in development is completely fine, you're paying to play and test them early. Kerbal Space Program players like me are no stranger to it, besides it's hella worth it some times. Shoutouts to Blackrack. The only thing I'll be against is paywalling a released mod- we saw what happened with the physics mod.

Yeah. I was prepared to disagree with you on the DRM front but how you’ve described it seems more than reasonable (though I am very curious on how you differentiate “paying” systems). Having closed betas is more than reasonable for most all cases. And yeah, modding scenes in Minecraft and most anywhere for that matter suck. Most people don’t seem to realize the work that goes into programming *anything*, and it seems to get a lot of disrespect and entitlement because of it. Most people don’t treat bug fixing and adding features as the tasks they are outside of those who’ve tried it, and games, companies, people and mods alike have suffered as a result.

Item #: SCP-049 Object Class: Euclid Special Containment Procedures: SCP-049 is contained within a Standard Secure Humanoid Containment Cell in Research Sector-02 at Site-19. SCP-049 must be sedated before any attempts to transport it. During transport, SCP-049 must be secured within a Class III Humanoid Restriction Harness (including a locking collar and extension restraints) and monitored by no fewer than two armed guards. While SCP-049 is generally cooperative with most Foundation personnel, outbursts or sudden changes in behaviour are to be met with elevated force. Under no circumstances should any personnel come into direct contact with SCP-049 during these outbursts. In the event SCP-049 becomes aggressive, the application of lavender (L. multifida) has been shown to produce a calming effect on the entity. Once calmed, SCP-049 generally becomes compliant, and will return to containment with little resistance. In order to facilitate the ongoing containment of SCP-049, the entity is to be provided with the corpse of a recently deceased animal (typically a bovine or other large mammal) once every two weeks for study. Corpses that become instances of SCP-049-2 are to be removed from SCP-049's containment cell and incinerated. SCP-049 is no longer permitted to interact with human subjects, and requests for human subjects are to be denied. Temporary Containment Procedure Update: (See Addendum 049.3) Per Containment Committee Order 049.S19.17.1, SCP-049 is no longer permitted to interact directly with any members of Foundation staff, nor is it to be provided with any additional corpses to be used in its surgeries. This order shall persist indefinitely, until such time a consensus regarding the ongoing containment of SCP-049 can be reached. Description: SCP-049 is a humanoid entity, roughly 1.9 meters in height, which bears the appearance of a medieval plague doctor. While SCP-049 appears to be wearing the thick robes and the ceramic mask indicative of that profession, the garments instead seem to have grown out of SCP-049's body over time1, and are now nearly indistinguishable from whatever form is beneath them. X-rays indicate that despite this, SCP-049 does have a humanoid skeletal structure beneath its outer layer. SCP-049 is capable of speech in a variety of languages, though tends to prefer English or medieval French2. While SCP-049 is generally cordial and cooperative with Foundation staff, it can become especially irritated or at times outright aggressive if it feels that it is in the presence of what it calls the "Pestilence". Although the exact nature of this Pestilence is currently unknown to Foundation researchers, it does seem to be an issue of immense concern to SCP-049. SCP-049 will become hostile with individuals it sees as being affected by the Pestilence, often having to be restrained should it encounter such. If left unchecked, SCP-049 will generally attempt to kill any such individual; SCP-049 is capable of causing all biological functions of an organism to cease through direct skin contact. How this occurs is currently unknown, and autopsies of SCP-049's victims have invariably been inconclusive. SCP-049 has expressed frustration or remorse after these killings, indicating that they have done little to kill "The Pestilence", though will usually seek to then perform a crude surgery on the corpse using the implements contained within a black doctor's bag it carries on its person at all times3. While these surgeries are not always "successful", they often result in the creation of instances of SCP-049-2. SCP-049-2 instances are reanimated corpses that have been operated on by SCP-049. These instances do not seem to retain any of their prior memories or mental functions, having only basic motor skills and response mechanisms. While these instances are generally inactive, moving very little and in a generally ambulatory fashion, they can become extremely aggressive if provoked, or if directed to by SCP-049. SCP-049-2 instances express active biological functions, though these are vastly different from currently understood human physiology. Despite these alterations, SCP-049 often remarks that the subjects have been "cured".

Interviewer: Dr. Raymond Hamm, Site-85 Interviewee: SCP-049 [BEGIN LOG] SCP-049: (In French) So then, how should we begin? An introduction? Dr. Hamm: (Aside) Is that French? Can we get a translator- SCP-049: (In English) The King's English! No need for translation, sir, I can speak it well enough. Dr. Hamm: Good. My name is Dr. Raymond Hamm, and I- SCP-049: Ah! A doctor! A like-minded individual, no doubt. Wherein is your speciality, sir? Dr. Hamm: Cryptobiology, why- SCP-049: (Laughs) A medical man, such as myself. Wonders abound! And here I worried I had been abducted by common street thugs! (Looks around the room) This place, then. This is your laboratory? I had wondered, as clean as it is, and with such little trace of the Pestilence here. Dr. Hamm: The Pestilence? What do you mean? SCP-049: The Scourge! The Great Dying. Come now, you know, the, uh… (taps temple furiously) …what is it they call it, the… the… ah, no matter. The Pestilence, yes. It abounds outside these walls, you know. So many have succumbed, and many more will continue to, until such time as a perfect cure can be developed. (Leans back in its chair) Fortunately, I am very close. It is my duty in life to rid the world of it, you see. The Cure To End All Cures! Dr. Hamm: When you say "The Great Dying", are you talking about the bubonic plague? SCP-049: (Pauses) I don't know what that is. Dr. Hamm: I see. Right, well, the entities our agents encountered at that house, they were dead when you encountered them, yes? And you reanimated them? SCP-049: Hrmm, in a manner of speaking. You see things too simply, doctor! Expand your horizons. Life and death, sickness and health, these are amateur terms for amateur physicians. There is only one ailment that exists in the world of men, and that is the Pestilence. And nothing else! Make no mistake, they were very ill, all of them. Dr. Hamm: You think you cured those people? SCP-049: Indeed. My cure is most effective. Dr. Hamm: The things we recovered were not human. SCP-049: (Pauses and glares at Dr. Hamm) Yes, well, it is not a perfect cure. But that will come with time. And further experimentation! I have spent a lifetime developing my methods, Dr. Hamm, and will spend a lifetime more, if necessary. Now, we have wasted too much time. There is work to do! I will require a laboratory of my own, one where I can continue my research unimpeded. And assistants, of course, though I can provide those on my own, in time. (Laughs) Dr. Hamm: I don't think our organization will be willing to- SCP-049: Nonsense. We are all men of science. Fetch your coat and show me to my quarters, doctor. (Gestures with pointed stick) Our work begins now! [END LOG]

modders for all games do this all the time, even the sims custom content creators release early access stuff for patrons and so on, its not unreasonable and its a way to get feedback before publicly releasing something. the only complaint id have for your mods is that some, like the most up to date version of the rat mod, is only for quilt when my server with my friend uses fabric, but i understand why, its not easy to make a mod for multiple different modloaders that use different libraries and such
