This is my first .308 and bolt action rifle. This test was conducted after 16 rounds of zeroing and practice at 50yds with the steel case Tula, with the last 4 rounds being used for the first shots at 100yds. The rifle was supported on the ammo box you see in the video, and sandbags under the stock. The 3 shot groups were each taken over a period of about 2min. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the PMC X-TAC 7.62x51mm NATO, which was one of the cheaper options, while the two .308 options from Federal left much to be desired, considering their higher price in comparison. The first shot with a cool barrel at 100yds with the Tula was a pleasant surprise as well, and was arguably the closest to the point of aim out of all the ammo tested; it was also the cheapest option of the 7 that were tested. I hope to test these again in the near future, this time with a bipod for more front end stability. What are your experiences with these different brands of ammo in this rifle, or other rifles?

What is it and why is it malfunctioning? Dirty? Dry?
@run-n-gun_kuya2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been running Federal Syntech this whole year, the most common issue has been failure to feed. The synthetic coat has a tendency to get caught on the feed ramp from time to time. Same thing happened to a Glock shooter that day too.

@@run-n-gun_kuya Would polishing the feed ramp help, or running it wetter?
@run-n-gun_kuya2 жыл бұрын
@@FingerAngle I think a feed ramp polish or a coat of lube would definitely help, but I’d have to keep an eye on it after each stage as most guns tend to get dirty there after a few shots. Synthetic coat might be good for keeping the barrel from getting too hot but the material definitely doesn’t help with feeding.

What caused all of those malfunctions? Dirty extractor?
@run-n-gun_kuya2 жыл бұрын
Very likely the issue in Stage 3. Stage 4, was most likely a combination of that plus limp-wristing with my weak hand.

Nice vid. What CZ clone you shooting? Looks like an EAA import of some type.

What kinda gun is that? Did you not Barney on stage 3? Why didn’t it lock back?
@run-n-gun_kuya3 жыл бұрын
Hey! It’s a Rock Island Armory/Armscor MAPP1, basically a polymer frame Tanfoglio Witness, made in the Philippines. Stage 3 was an unloaded start so I only had 10 rounds going in. My support hand grip most likely tripped the slide release and didn’t let it lock back, plus I lost count of the rounds when I had to take two extra shots at the steel.

nice grip video. have you tried using the nutcracker method instead of push-pull?

Isn't that laser pointer too long? Won't it go past the chamber and maybe damage the bore? Great video, by the way. I'm still working on my grip and I think what you showed here will help.

At first I thought so too as I used to have shorter ones, but it fits perfectly and I haven’t had any issues with it. Glad you found the video helpful!

@@run-n-gun_kuya I bought one some months ago. It's really useful.

One thing I forgot to mention: get your shooting hand high up on the grip, so that your thumb webbing is right under the beaver tail. If you are pushing forward into your gun correctly, this should happen automatically. Hope this helps!
