We just put a used transmission in. Fluid level was fine. I am assuming the main pump in the transmission went bad

I have a question how you got the round nuts from the bushing bracket off how can I contact you?
@Grumpyoldmechanic-l3r18 күн бұрын
When the welds broke I just used a pair of vice grips and some penetrating oil. It took a little bit of time. About 10 min a bolt
@boriswilliams272918 күн бұрын
@@Grumpyoldmechanic-l3rwhat specific type and size nuts did you put back?
@Grumpyoldmechanic-l3r17 күн бұрын
@ I used the old round ones. I put a little penetrating oil in it. Then ran the bolt through a few times to clean the rust off. Then I installed them. I then re tack welded them on. Which is not needed but will help if you have to replace them again
@boriswilliams272915 күн бұрын
@@Grumpyoldmechanic-l3r do you know what size would work if I can’t fit the old ones back?
@Grumpyoldmechanic-l3r15 күн бұрын
@ sorry I do not. I would say the best idea would be to take one of the bolts to the hardware store and match it up. My guess would be 14mmx1.5 or 1.0

Mine was a Range designed for the 2021 5.3 with DFM. I have a lifetime power train warranty from my dealer, so I might as well enjoy the improved mileage from the DFM.
@Grumpyoldmechanic-l3rАй бұрын
Life time power train warranty is amazing. I would definitely take advantage of That also.
@davidstarr6056Ай бұрын
My 2021 5.3 with DFM had a lifter failure at 9000 miles. I had installed a device like you are recommending upon delivery of the truck. After GM repaired the truck, I removed the device.

That’s very odd. I think that may have just been a quirk. Although from what I have seen most of these say they are for not 2020 and up.

If I were going to go that far into that job, I would have put a new thermostat and a new fuel pump on. I would have kept the old fuel pump for a spare.
@Grumpyoldmechanic-l3rАй бұрын
Did put a new thermostat in. And snuck a new aluminum radiator in. I work at a shop and didn’t have time to film all of it.

So I just checked my heater hoses and someone took a hose u-bend and put it on both sides and plugged it. Where do those heater hoses lead to?
@Grumpyoldmechanic-l3r2 ай бұрын
It sounds like maybe the heater core was leaking and they bypassed it to keep it from leaking coolant. So instead of the coolant flowing through the heater core it just loops around back to the engine.
