Wonder if this bulletin is pre-recorded or used a back-up green screen studio. Using the original green screen set will make it clash with Channel 8’s News Tonight (both sets are in the same studio).

@@thesamuelong10 the green screen set and Channel 8’s set are actually in the same studio. The green screen set is to the right of the large screen of Channel 8’s set. The screen used for News 8 At One and Hello Singapore should be towards the left of the Singapore Today and News Tonight set. This is according to the Instagram posts of some Channel 5 and Channel 8 presenters.

I actually still love the previous sponsored clock design one. We never gonna see the first design late clock now (Except for channel 8 who once did it in their seconds late habit)

Can you try record (if you have time) the 6am continuities for Channel 5 and Channel 8, and maybe Vasantham's startup or closedown sequence? I just want to know if the new national anthem AVPs released by the MCCY a few weeks ago (available on YT, by the way) are being used by Mediacorp with translated lyrics as the previous AVP from a decade ago. Thank you.

I still wonder which studio they used because the 30-mins bulletin started at 2131 hrs. Had it used the green screen set in the Channel 8 studio, it will clash with Channel 8’s News Tonight. I believe there is a backup studio with the green screen set. I guess that this bulletin is not pre-recorded due to the short time between the end of the NDR and the start of the bulletin.

As usual, Channel 8 skips the headline sequence for News Tonight on days with important national events At least no 2017 opening sequence showing up by mistake 🤣. I believe that happened in 2022.

1:14 I’ve never liked how the original theme was abruptly cut to fit the titles. The older opening sequence which followed Channel 8’s style was much better.

0:21 compared to the standard theme, the headline-less version of the theme has a longer note before the main theme is heard at 0:23. There is a 4-headlines version of this theme. It was used 19 March 2022, the last day of this look. Generally Singapore Today has a 3-headline opening sequence so I’m not sure when else this 4-headlines variant was used.

I think that the clock being used now is the KFC clock? Doesn’t it have a live version which has been used on Channel 8? Or it does not apply to Channel 5?

The kfc clock isnt in use since last week, interesting thing about it is that it sponsored almost every channel (including channel u, prob except vasantham)

I think the normal blue live clock footage is missing. Kinda remind me of 2005-2008 flip clock era when they didn't had the live clock version of their flip clocks but the sponsored live clock does appear that year

Hmm if I remember correctly the 2005-2008 clock may have been reused at one point and a live version of this clock was seen. I recall seeing one with Cathay Pacific sponsorship and live numbers being overlaid over the clock. And the year was in 2010, if I’m not wrong! I can’t remember when exactly though, so please correct me if I’m wrong…

Seems like this kfc sponsor would last till national day, and probably sponsored on all channels? Also, it marked the return of a live clock on channel 8 as well after the end of sheng siong after months of just using the 5sec ident Edit: this marked the return of a sponsored clock on channel u as well (11pm news was also sponsored by kfc)

A few months ago, Channel 8 stopped using a live clock if News Tonight could not start on time. However, with the return of the sponsored clock, it also marked the return of a live clock. A “live” version of the sponsored clock seen here was first spotted on 20 July’s News Tonight which came after The Sheng Siong Show.
