I didn't realize you could do that with one 😮 Gonna have to give it a go! It's been a journey for this poor plant. Almost froze to death. Of course my mind didn't process the whole, "every plant is an outdoor plant." I've already sold so many cuttings of Coleus that I have been considering getting some seeds and filling some pots for Spring/Summer. 😅

Hey Venda, Good to see ya again! I hope all is well with you c: Funny, these two topics actually fit into videos I have planned for Dec/Jan. I can answer them here for now though--- The hardest plant to keep, for me, would be lavender actually. I do not have a yard and so I can only grow them in pots. It was always a battle with it.... Either, it was suffering form root rot (purchased from store that way) or it was infested with spider mites (outdoors). I actually ended up trashing both of my original and first lavender plants. For context they were both lavandula x intermedia - in theory, they were easy to care for. For specifically indoor plants - I feel like a peace lily ( Spathiphyllum wallisii) can be extremely difficult for people for a variety of reasons. I purchased mine during lent of this year and am just now seeing new, healthy growth. I struggled for a while with it... Root rot, Phytophthora, and then I burned it with the wrong fertilizer.... The rarest plant in my area that is actually in my collection is my newest plant. Monty, my Monstera D. "Thai Constellation" that I purchased from a big box for $30 USD. It was grown by Costa Farms. I think the rarest plant for sale in my area currently are cuttings of "Philodendron Pink Mint Micans" which I think are just uncommon Philodendron Hederaceum Var... 1 node cuttings look like they are going for $90+ For my collection, my biggest "goal" is to just get things that will fit in well with the home, family, and lifestyle we live. While there are plants that I would love to add to the collection (like P. Whipple Way, or a hoya that smells like chocolate) I follow a cash budget for all purchases so it'll be a while yet before I can add anything like that to the collection.

So, the jar that is featured in this video is a gift that I am adding to a bag for a plant swap that I am doing with someone today. It's not part of the swap. It is simply my way of thanking this person for coming out on a very nasty day to do the swap with me. I also added a card with a handwritten thank you, upgraded the size of the pot I was giving them. Added an extra plant of what they wanted to trade for. I hope that these few small touches are able to bring just a little bit of sunshine to what has been an extremely dreary week. --- I'm planning on doing a short video/discussion on little things that people can do when it comes to buying and selling online or bartering online that can make them stand out. I hope this video found all of you warm and well today. And perhaps it will inspire you to add in a few extras that you had laying around to your next plant swap.

@LavenderAndLattes
@LavenderAndLattes 18 күн бұрын
Absolutely! 🌱 Using botanical names definitely helps reduce confusion-I do the same when making purchases. There are already so many subtle differences, like between Monstera deliciosa and Monstera borsigiana, so relying on proper names is key. 😊 My goal here was to help prevent anyone new to plants from being misled or even scammed. Just this week, I’ve seen three posts in a single plant group where people were sold a "Monstera Albo," but the photos showed a Monstera standleyana albo. 😥 While technically not incorrect, it’s definitely not a Monstera deliciosa or borsigiana albo.

Really, I feel like it's a "home grown" seller kinda issue. People who purposefully meant to be deceitful. That's not to say everyone who sells plants out of their house are shady... But if someone lables a Monstera Cobra, only as a "Monstera Albo" and they give no other indication it's actually a Monstera S. (monstera Cobra).... Don't you think their main intention was to scam? I really hope this saves someone any potential disappointment or from making a purchase they didnt want to. On another note- I really love my Monstera S. and I look forward to sharing it's growth journey with all of you. That one pot had 6 individual plants grown from cuttings off the parent plant (which I traded for a Philodendron). Both plants are beautiful, both are great additions to any collection. I just want to make sure that people are actually aware of what they're purchasing. Also, not really into the super science you kind of stuff. I'm not a botanist I'm just a hobbyist and collector of plants. There are plenty of great resources through other KZbinrs that actually specialize in these particular plants that I would encourage you to go watch. I will put some of the channel names that I've referenced for my own personal studies and knowledge in a comment below this post later tonight. I just don't have time to do it at this moment. Wishing you all the best this holiday season! ❤

While caring for my plants, and praying, I came to a realization today: Sometimes, for reasons we do not understand in the moment, God will prune what we perceive as healthy and beautiful growth. But like a vine, we will grow more fully, and stronger because we have been pruned. I find comfort in knowing that, while everything I thought was great in my life had to go- I have become a stronger, more vibrant, healthier, and more fulfilled version of myself... And I grow more each and every day into the woman God made me to be. I hope you find comfort in this too. Do good, Be good, And when you fail- Pray. ❤️ Michelle

I try to keep cuttinga of various plants in rotation on my prop station. Today I cut back some tradescantia and Philo Brasil to prop. I dont like taking a lot from my smaller planters, since my goal is actually to fill them, so little bits at a time is my preferred method. This will leave me with many vines at various lengths/stages of growth. Also, from the ficus e. - these are the only cuttings that have made it and rooted. The Painted Lady Philo is the top cut of the big one from my ling form video. I have ooted to move it into water because the pot it was in dries out in a day and I am tired to watering every other day.

After a long, internal debate... I decided to swap my P&J to water! I have, in the past, grown plants in water like this. P&J is a bit fickle but I really love the aesthetic and I already have some in one of my big pots so I figured this was worth a shot. It's been in water for about two weeks now and the only yellowing leaf was already dying prior to being put in water. I guess we'll see how it does over the coming months. But I am so pleased with how this turned out. I keep it on a glass candle tray. The tray, the fish bowl vase, and the red "Ruby" vase filler are all from the Dollar Tree. Not sponsored btw. I payed for the items from my monthly plant budget. 😅 See y'all in the next one

Phil has 3 new stems, one 2 have leaves though. Other is still pushing out of the soil. Will be repotting him next month as he has outgrown his current pot. Phyllis is loosing a leaf she was putting out when I took her as a top cut from Phil... 🥺 kinda sad about it but it was a mistake I have now learned from. Good news is that the new growth looks fine! Damage was caused by cutting, lack of water/sufficient roots/humidity The last little one is actually that bonus cutting I took. It was a middle cut from Phil. You can see the original leaf on it in the related video tagged on this video. I think the small little leaf is just adorable. Hope it survives!

I only found out after lots of research in my free time. I will post a current video of a cutting I took on Oct 24. It actually featured in one of my Oct 25th shorts "Bonus cutting" I lost the original leaf not long after I took the cutting. About a week ago it finally pushed out it's first root and a new leaf. It's about as small as my pinky nail. I'll also show the parent plant it was taken from since new growth is finally coming in.

I know people think it's overrated but I've always had an obsession with constellation/galaxy themes. I think these are so pretty grow up too 🥰 I have debated a Monstera for a while and settled on the Thai Constellation because I was genuinely taken by it at first sight. Same with my White Princess Philodendron (though, in all fairness, I wanted and was sold a WWP.) Anyways, I didn't really know about the whole hype train till I saw it in a few more videos... After I learned how "fast fashion" it was, I debated even getting one... Mainly because of how "overrated" people felt it was... I have to live with and love my plants though.... So... HERE WE BE! I know it sounds really dumb, but I tear up at the memory. A very good friend of mine did his science fair project on plants when we were in 5th grade. He ended up moving just before the year ended.... It's just how the military life goes. His board got left in a dark closet with the English ivy still in their baggies, damp paper towels finally protecting roots. No idea how it lasted that long with no light but ... I had volunteered to help my teacher clean the room at the end of the year. I remember asking if I could keep the Ivy, and I brought it home where mom and I cared for it until I was 21. We gave it to a neighbor when we moved states... On a whim, when I decided to start collecting plants again this spring, I purchased a tiny pot of Ivy at Walmart. This plant and I battled all spring and summer but I think I won. Spider mites, root rot, mealy bugs.... I know it's not the exact same plant from my friend.... But, it'll do my heart good to see this grow to be just as big and beautiful.

I'm planning to do a full video on this but it was the perfect time to go ahead and film these leaves to show you! I could not pass the opportunity up!!! 🛑 Stop ✂️ & 🗑️ The leaf is dying, and it might surprise you to find out it can actually be a good thing. I'm not an expert with some fancy degree. I didn't grow up on a farm or with a greenhouse. I grew up with a Hill Billy Mama that rubbed milk on the leaves of her rubber plant... This same woman swears by a standard bag of miracle grow and a cheap plastic pot for her aloe plant... 🤷‍♀️ It works... I have the whole "ol wives tales" and many hours of "SAHM time" invested into researching each and every one of my house plants.... So, why is the leave on your plant, or in this case prop, turning yellow not a bad thing? It's my understanding that plant leaves can, and do, store nutrients. A leaf turning yellow, especially the oldest leaf, might just be the plant breaking down the cells in the leaf to give the plant more energy. I will go further into it in my video, but one of the cuttings from my White Princess Philo lost its only leaf. Yesterday, I checked on the leafless node, which I chucked into a prop box... It took a while, but it has pushed out it's first leaf AND it has also pushed out roots. I genuinely believe that where there in green, there is hope. Before you toss that plant or chop that leaf off- give it a few days and see what happens. If you loose it, odds are the plant still isn't dead. Consider what your next step should be to rehab it... Or maybe just leave it alone to grow. My last argument for not cutting off yellow leaves is that we don't do that in the wild. It's just a natural thing. Hope this helps someone! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃

It lost 3 leaves on the car ride home 😅 Decided because I cannot rule out pests or fungus I would treat it with neem and wash it really well. I knocked off as much of the old soil as I could and freshened it up. I also put the plant in a smaller pot... I've never completely cut one back before so idk if that's gonna be a problem... Usually we would snip the branches and add them back to the pot so I'm doing a lot of "new" trial and error kinda things with this one. Wish me luck 🤞
