I remember I used to listen to this song a lot around when it first came out. I would listen to it whenever I was upset, anxious, or depressed to help soothe me. Today, I ended up singing it to my cat right before he passed away in my arms. He was really ill before all this, so I wanted to make sure the final thing he heard was something to help soothe him before he went across the rainbow bridge. This song was what my mind first went to for something like that. All I can hope is that it worked, despite how shaky my voice was from crying. Thank you so much for making this song. It has touched my life in multiple ways, and based on the other comments here, it seems I’m far from alone.

We found a dying kitten yesterday. It was about 4 weeks old. It was left by its mom after she dislocated its front legs when tugging along. This was one of the kitten's we found at my grandpa's warehouse. I was able to keep it alive for about a day or so. It just faded a few moments ago, with this playing. I hope it wasn't in pain anymore, I hope it was happy.

I still need to see the movies. I'm finally reading the books, and I just finished the chapter in Mockingjay where Katniss sings this. While I don't know how the film's version sounds, my mind immediately went back ten years to when I first heard this beautiful song, back when this was Adri's most viewed video. Reading the other comments below, I gathered that the film changed the themes of this song from book to film from somber to patriotic. It bums me to know that because this version fits the book so well. I couldn't hold back happy tears of memories of hearing this for the first time a decade ago now that I've finally read them in the book. It came back strong. Thank you for this version, Adri.
