Can you recommend an equalizer app?

Hey there. To my knowledge three quick picks are PulseEffects, JamesDSP, EasyEffects. You can find them on Flathub store. Depending on your Linux distribution you may have Flatpak installed or you need to install, or, try to find a native package for that Linux distro. I am using OBS for recording and I do my equalization from OBS via addons.

I dislike comparisons of distros since they all use nearly the same commands and for most of the users most of the time the differences are superficial. Linux imo shouldn't treat "for gaming" as a distinct category. The by-product of this is "gaming" PCs and components charging hundreds of dollars more for a few neon lights, and the software equivalent: which is ill-conceived monolithic launcher software. Libretro: putting all your emulators behind an obsolete UI. Heroic: hiding your Wine prefixes' environment variables. Choosing a distro "for gaming" too often means sucking up a too-small team's arbitrary decisions and weaknesses - when what you want is a distro that is maintained and documented well and to play games on it. So Ubuntu here isn't considered, but if someone knows its settings the advantages *for them* of moving to a smaller distro might be minor compared to their headaches from (e.g.) a different package manager. Also Garuda is listed in preference to vanilla Arch but Garuda uses install-scripts and whether that's better depends more on the hardware than the user or the games.

Yes, I agree to a certain degree. However, small differences can make a difference in certain cases and it comes down to the liberty of a user to decided what is best for him. I mentioned these distros because they come out of the box with the necessary presets for gaming. I did tested Ubuntu for gaming but in my case it did not went well and I ended up to CachyOS after multiple distros installed and testes. Different PC's configuration may experience different quality of life under certain distros, much like in Windows, with the difference that in Linux you can test multiple distros until you find one that gets more out of your PC and makes your life better. Hey, thanks for dropping by and if you know more distros we should test, let me know! : D

It pretty much doesn't matter. Tuxedo OS works just fine around here.

I looked at it form a subjective perspective, and while you can game in Windows without the necessity to fiddle around with the OS to make it work as you wish, it is very much a personal choice one has. I like Linux for it's privacy aspect, the open source and FOSS aspect, for being free and for the fact it has no interest into your private life on your own device. : D Welcome to the channel!

I have tried Mint, Ubuntu, Garuda Dragonize and several others, no success with the games I play, especially with any that use BattleEye trough Steam. Older games run fine for the most part, particularly from GOG. Have you had any issues using BattleEye?

It's good you have a great sense of humor, now we learn about each other : D - the header of my channel says, it is indeed Gaming With Linux. But I do appreciated your enthusiastic support for an operating system deciding for you that you have no private life and all your own content can be scanned and used for any purpose a company decides to do with. Good luck forward with Windows.

@@GamingWithLinux Errm - You use Google-services like KZbin and lecture me about privacy? Oh well. I know what a business model is and what business models Microsoft and Alphabet use, that's the reason I am less concerned with MS than Google.

@@carstenhardt1589 Yes, I am . Google services are boxed to their services in question and the use of Chrome for the specific reason, and Chrome cannot touch the kernel nor see what I have on my PC, scan, report, upload etc. Windows however, as your main OS can do that and it does. It is OK to know how to separate those two. Getting angry on the rest of us using tools properly won't be in your own benefit. If you are already here, absorb what ever little info you can, keep an open mind and see what other users report on their experience and the way they use Linux, maybe it can be of some use to you in the near future. Let us know when you test Linux how it goes.

Hi there. Pop!OS is good as well. As soon as I have the new SSD drive I ordered I will install and test all major Linux distros good for gaming and see how they perform. I wanted to do this for a very long time now : D

just use default arch and install what you need that way its less bloaty and more performant

@@Grosston_RBX It is not easy for a large majority of people. I would advise using CachyOS arch distro, gives you everything you need to game out of the box : D
