Will Trump's tariffs raise the cost of the Chinese Midea, even though Midea has plants in the US? The parts could be coming from China and only assembled in the US. That means Gradient might be the less expensive buy. I could get no comment from Midea about when these units could be purchased. I HAD one of their U-shaped window air conditioners. Every fall when I removed it there would be a lot of water coming out of it. They did NOT have any drain holes at the bottom back end of the outdoor part. Water collected in the case was starting to rust inside and I was worried about Legionnaire's disease forming.

There may be a problem in Gansu to use the produced electricity as it is. But China is trying to move that electricity east. They started building the Gansu - Zhejiang HVDC power line, 800 V DC, 8 GW, 2370 km in July 2024. It is one of 6 massive HVDC 8 GW long distance power lines being build. Adding to about 20 high capacity HVDC power lines, most of them moving electricity from the sparsely populated West to the population centres in the East.

Yes, the higher the temperature, the thermodynamic efficiency of sterling cycle increases, if I remember my thermodynamics lecture correctly from 30 years ago! But the hot sodium must be contained! Without the higher corrosion rate inevitable at higher temperatures!

this is stupid its not storing energy per say. Its creating electric via solar, wind or hydro then using that electric to create the compressed air. Then it uses more energy (probs from the grid) to turn the compressed air in to electric for usage. This system does not work as a electricity storage.

It is family stupid to calling selling extra power not needed for profit a con. Second first nations need to decide to be part of modern civilization and stop this bs that every mile of every river is theirs. It's seems like they are the only group the has this power to shut down or alter a project plan. The environmental impact is not more for dams than wind and solar I think it the reverse. We haven't used they long enough, live in South Eastern Washington state where a very large wind and solar farm the largest in my state will be built . All pro's based lies will be made suffer this insidious giant eye sore that will produce periodic power for out of state users just to make them feel good about climate change hogwash. Energy is not free and modern life requires lots energy wind and solar will not be able to provide enough for demand. The Politian's are being untruthful about the climate change issue.

Technically (and thermodynamically) it seems to me close to absurd in comparison to other options. The temperatures are absolutely extreme for all materials in order to store big quantities of energy; sand is much more complicate to handle than water and it doesn't have a high Heat capacity, in part because of the air between sand particles. Make a pure water thermal storage reaching just below 100°C (boiling water, ~212°F), water has a high Heat capacity and makes an efficient thermal storage, it moves by itself to homogenize the temperature or for tank cleaning; the temperature doesn't create a a stress to the materials. The thermal sand battery is a false good solution, seems to me.

A sand battery used for heat is great but converting from solar to heat and back to electricity again is to inefficient, I think Sodium ion is going to be what most homes choose when it is scaled and becomes much more affordable in the next 5 to 10 years. And probably so cheap that it gets used for heating also. Eg. when you can buy 30kw of Sodium ion storage for 10 grand or so why bother with anything else.

Now you can buy 30kwh lifeo4 Eve 304ah 36 cells for $1600 USD , you don’t need to wait for 10 years to get it, same Na ion cost but don’t give you flat curve unlike lifeo4.

Almost all tests miss the mark because they don't use vertical south facing bi facial, I did my own east west test, and it doesn't compare to south. The video stated more stable production, and I will explain, with no reflective in summer my 465w panel makes 300w, but the days are 16 hours and mostly clear, In Dec I get 125w in most overcast, add snow and sun 569w, more power on the shortest days less power when I do not need it even running 1.3kw all day long with AC. No matter how you mount it, get bi facial. Panel cleaning once per year vertical, snow won't stick either.

Yes it does release C02. However this is a step in the right direction. There is no quick fix. Would it be better to landfill the waste? What is the alternative to heating those homes? Burning wood? Burning coal? Gas? Hopefully in time, all waste doesn't have a fossil origin and therefore the CO2 that is release from burning it. Will not exceed the amount the ecosystem can absorb.

Truly one of the worst ideas for solar that is really possible. 1. You have loads of land especially in the desert where we have these aqueducts. There is no need to put it over the aqueduct. 2. Putting it over the canal makes it more expensive as you have to have custom hardware to do that. 3. Maintenance on the panels will be higher. 4. There are possible water contamination issues of having all that equipment over the water. 5. Possible issues if there is a flood as the panels will be directly on top of the water. The only credible point on this is that the aqueduct loses water to evaporation. Covering the aqueduct reduces that hugely. So that is a good idea. It should not only be covered but sealed like a pipe. Some of our water system already works that way. We have huge water pipes that go through the desert. They have the additional benefit of being able to go up mountains as the pipe can be pressurized. However, solar power projects have no place anywhere near this sort of infrastructure. Put the solar in the middle of unused land in the desert. It will be cheaper, easier to maintain, will not contaminate water, and if you pay some attention to the topology of the land then the risk of flood or erosion damage should be minimal.
