Carlotta needs to hold some of those notes. And it was some missing out of the score. The staging looks amazing though. Maybe she was having a rough day.

Like everything in Phantom there’s a alternate version that you learn when you join the cast there’s a manual that lists all of the various ways you are supposed to cover for technical issues. I’ve been in Phantom a few times and my most recent time the throne failed which is never a good thing. I feel bad for the audience who have to just watch you sneak out from under the cape and run away it’s not quite as impactful. The explanation of the portcullis lasso issue officially is that it’s electrified and pulls raoul onto it but for me it’s a bit silly especially when the phantom then uses the candle to free him.

I'm not criticizing the actress or anything like that, but because Meg Giry is acting so naturally without her "ballerina mannerisms", it reminds me of Meg Giry from the 2014 American tour, it was quite a change in the character in her London version.

How did you get lost, there are maps everywhere, and why didn't you plan your journey a few days before you went????
@Ellajade0729 күн бұрын
bro we weren’t from there even if there are maps it’s not that easy to locate somewhere really dark? And the phantom of the opera live was a surprise for my birthday so how could I help- being from a small town then going to a big city ain’t easy dude
@mikekaraoke29 күн бұрын
@Ellajade07 So you went when it was really dark, and what a lovely birthday present! Did you have to pick up the tickets from the box office or wasit via email-as you could of gone there a few hours beforehand picked up tickets then got something to eat then would of been in the area. I'm not from London, I'm in Kent but whenever I go theatre collect the tickets beforehand or if they are E-tickets just be in that same area at least 90 mins before it starts so not rushing about 🙂

Am glad to report that they have slowed the tempo(s) down significantly as of 30th October. This must have been early hijinks
@printeredlaseredАй бұрын
@@RedHandedJill I mean, I have no real idea when exactly they slowed it down as I'm only speaking about my own trip, but if they were playing slower at your performance then it shows they're being consistent. They've added at least 10 minutes to the runtime compared to this take. It's drastic

There was a video of this particular scene that posted here as well, in which the lasso broke shortly after Erik put it on Raoul, resulting in the latter sing while lying on the floor.

It's brilliant how they covered the incident. I remember a story from the original Toronto production where one of the Angel's supporting rods broke while descended, and Colm Wilkinson as the Phantom was stuck with no way to get down.

Why does it spark? Isn’t the point of the auction scene to tell us that the ‘electric light’ was new, and that the workshops had just wired it?
@bookishmaria_2 ай бұрын
that’s when phantom gets angry at christine not during the auction
@TheCoastermann2 ай бұрын
@@bookishmaria_ You’re not quite understanding. Think about it. The auction scene is set long after Christine has died, ‘Some of you may recall the strange affair of the Phantom of the Opera,’ and then as the chandelier rises, we go back in time during the overture. So if the electric light is ‘new’ as it is said to be in the auction scene, how can we then see it spark when we wind the clock back? It would have been gas powered. It wouldn’t have sparked. Incidentally; it never sparked during the crash before, until the production was replaced with the touring production.
@Tochi682 ай бұрын
It sparks in the same way these characters just burst into songs. It's theater In all seriousness, I doubt safety guidelines would just allow these set piece chandeliers to just spout out flames above an audience.
@joaonasc14952 ай бұрын
@@TheCoastermannwell, we can think that the Phantom is a theatrical illusionist and he put the special effect to create more drama. It's something I imagine him doing 😅
@PILOSOPAUL13 күн бұрын
@@TheCoastermann Firstly, in the overture, the curator said that they only fixed the original wirings of the chandelier, implying that it was already electric long before, they did not 'insall new' wiring but replaced the old ones. Secondly, the original timeline Phantom of the Opera (novel) was set in 1880, and that same year elecricity became a public utility in France (rougly during the end of 1870's), so it is quite possible that the chandelier is electric. Thirdly, the sparks are just part of the theatrics, it would be much dangerous to have fire bursting out of the chanelier instead of sparks that instanty fade away and releases less heat.
