Nobody told that a UPS running from 24V DC, with a 1500VA maximum power feed can draw 60A? You 20A fuse will blow in no time! 20A at 24V is barely 500W. You obviously know very little in electronics/electricity. You should not mess with something unless you understand it. 9Ah batteries will get you maybe 5 minutes worth of power at full load. These batteries will get you maybe to 15-20 minutes at full load...no more! Even at 50% load, you can't expect anymore than 30-45 minutes before your batteries drop below 20-22V.
@AlanSNasar

I am using 35ah batteries instead of original 9ah batteries. You are correct about the fuse, it will limit to about 400w. This is for safety. This should be run at 20% load for safety and will last for multiple hours. I use it for router, modem & switches and it has worked well for years.

Could you do a video on controlling a heating element in water using a PID -- and efficiency of SSR vs SCR? I have an 8KW Atmor tankless water heater that has two switched heating elements. I want to add stable electronic temperature control. But I can't find good information about the different options! Seems the PID + SSR MAY have longer switching time, and that MAY reduce heating element life from thermal cycling vs a higher speed SCR. But I am having trouble finding the real answer.

I am about to get total reconstruction reverse shoulder surgery on Feb 13 for my left arm, which is my strong arm (I'm a lefty). The damage started in 2013 with a small, what I call, "bone spur/nipple" below my humeral head with little, to no damage, to the circumference of the humeral head. Since I could not take the pain anymore and I was trying to minimize the number of surgeries (1-2018-right knee, 1-2022-left knee, 1-2022-left elbow), I decided to get StemCell injections. Once the doctor took the x-ray of my left shoulder, the "bone spur/nipple" had grown in length and width. The length went from the original bone spur's location to almost the humeral bone itself, in the last nine years. Considering I am 63 and great shape, all things considered, I did not want to wait any longer to get this issue resolved. I hate the fact this surgery will drill down into my humeral bone, and glenohumeral joint. I just hate it. However, it must be done. Again, considering I'm in great shape, considerably young, and my previous surgeries recoveries have been above the norm, I am sure I will heal as quickly, and as solidly as before. My goal, post-op, is to get back to the gym and gain back the weight/muscle I had lost as a result of the pain I had been feeling in the last year or two. My other concern, research shows there are three main reasons for the injury, are trauma (impact), pitching and weightlifting. And I'm going back to the gym. Greeeeeaaaat. P.S. I had prior surgeries to both shoulders for labrum tears. I was in the military for 30 years, and federal law enforcement 18 years. So, you can imagine the amount of stress I put my body throughout all of those years. Just found these links. Also for such large capacity battery's you would want to invest a external charger. it took mine over 48 hours to charge the battery's. something like a 3 amp max battery tender will do wonders and a high amp diode will keep the unit from cooking the internal charger.

I am doing a LFP upgrade on a pure sine model. I thought about using a shottky (cheap but voltage sag) or ideal diode (expensive for 20-30amps) and this will still backfeed the internal charger like you said but why would that matter? The best option would be to disable the internal charger, I cannot find any videos on this. The low voltage cuttoff is another issue but I think the only problem here is that you will not get any warning before the UPS shuts off when on batteries and it may shut off way before the batteries are drained. I used to use a deep cycle marine battery but it did not last long. I checked it after 3 yrs and it was down to 10.7 volts, dead. Probably because the charger in the UPS isnt designed to desulfate such a large battery.

a bit of advice. Change the fuse to a 30 amp one. Internally these cyber power units are fused at 30 amps. 20 amps will blow under full load. ran mine off two lawn and garden battery's for alittle over a year and that netted me 70 minutes of run time at 200 watts then degraded quickly from there. so VRLA is the way to go for sure. Looking into doing a lithium upgrade for it. Also the damn thing will need cooling if run longer than a hour. The transformer can handle the heat the switching supply can't.

They constantly put out 13.8 volts even when fully charged and are limited to 700 mhA. This is the reason why the factory battery's only last for about a year. Great idea...but also a great way to burn down your house. Why? Cuz the circuits inside the Cyberpower consumer-grade UPS are only rated to deliver power for a short period of time. After that, they get too hot and fry, perhaps frying your PC or your house. Also, the unit's charging circuits are similarly capacity-constricted, so when charging bigger batteries, the charging circuits may fail, or may fail to fully charge the bigger batteries. These hacks should ONLY be done with commercial UPSs, which are rated for 100% duty cycle.

It looks like I might be doing this exact job. Possibly this week. I wonder if it can be done without that kit, just with rope and webbing? Today, after discovering the broken rope and exiting stage left to Google-land and also the Aquamatic website, I got the impression that what was required was "1/4-inch Poly rope". Ran to the local West Marine and bought 350 feet of quality poly rope for $$$$ouch$$$. My general impression was that the rope for these covers is attached to a plastic piece with four screws - you screw through the rope into the plastic. But the factory rope ( which BTW is not poly, but just cotton, like you use on a clothesline ) seems to continue past the plastic piece, forming the edge of the actual cover. Will be calling tech support at Aquamatic tomorrow.
