omg i will be applying to mac as an intl student for fall 22 and the welcome week seems so cool😭😭😭 but i’m pretty sure that won’t be happening again cuz covid :/

Hi Shaki I love your videos; I'm a grade 12 student and mac is my top choice! I wanted to ask if Welcome Week was something you went to by yourself, or did you already make new friends prior to that? I'm the only one out of my friend group who wants to go to mac, so by the time I become a 1st yer student, I'll practically be alone bc I dont have any friends at mac yet (ik it sounds sad lol). So does mac give u time to make new friends before welcome week starts and the new semester starts?

Hi Helen! So I didn’t have many friends from high school going to mac either so all my friends I have right now I made at uni! It’s really easy to make friends because literally everyone else is in the same boat as you. Most of the people you meet during welcome week won’t be the people you hang out with regularly during the year, but welcome week is definitely a good opportunity to meet new people in your faculty and just get to know people. I made some friends before welcome week through mac’s Facebook group where people were making intro posts and I messaged a few people who I’m friends with now! Also if you’re going to be living on res that’s also a great way to meet new people. It’s really quite easy to make friends so don’t worry about that at all, and remember that everyone else in first year is feeling the exact same way as you :)

I’m in PGCLL, it’s the new res! I have a roommate and my room is connected via the washroom to another double room. Hope that was helpful!
