Silent Hill 1 perhaps requires some more playthroughs to get the better picture. I think that's a bit... lame considering that it's more of a time investment, but it's not a big deal. SH2, on the other hand, you get everything in one go and you can try to go for different endings that do kind of shed some more light into certain points, but the whole story can easily be understanded with it. SH2 is a great game. Give it a spin yourself sometime!

If I had more foresight I think I could have used more saves to get multiple endings in 1. So it's not as bad as it sounds.

I would prefer a story that draws me in only to get more and more excited and have a even way more exciting climax to the story

I personally like how you can ignore the extra characters completely and have a base Zangetsu run through the whole game and the levels are balanced enough around that to make it a fun challenge!

I think the early games are very interesting when you play through from 1-6, and actually experience how they shifted focus and tried to improve and trim the experience as they went on. IV might have the best presentation in my opinion, as V tends to get a bit distracted by trying to have grander setpiece moments and VI is extremely ambitious to the point its failings stick out more. A lot of IV is easy to ignore or excuse when you realize how it was the first real attempt to elevate what Final Fantasy was as a series.

I like them all but so far I'm really impressed with VI.

Thunderforce 3 on the megadrive is the best by far. Perfect level design, visuals and music make it such an amazing game. Some say 4 is better but I strongly disagree, level design nowhere near as good, too much going on resulting in slowdown and it's too difficult. I don't like Thunderforce 5 at all, those polygon graphics look terrible and gameplay not original at all, stages not memorable. Without a doubt Thunderforce 3 is the greatest side scrolling shmup ever made in my opinion, it's a perfect 10/10

You unlock the Thunder Force 3 ship (along with its weapons) in the Sega Ages release. I already forgot most of what I say in the video but I think I mention the unlockables both for Thunder Force AC and TF4.

watched this video to find out i've actually unlocked the "good ending" without even knowing there was a bad one, lol r-type WAS my first experience (not actually - river raid), it was though but i always had a soft spot for the series. it also has one of my greatest pet peeves in shooting games (shared by gradius) which is as soon as you die, you get a fade-out and a restart from somewhere back on the stage. oh my god does this ruin the flow of the game. thunder force doesn't do that, and this already makes it waaay better in my opinion. it just adds to its perfect pacing, specially in thunder force 5. the rhythm and pacing of that game are incredible, and it also has the best soundtrack. i kinda like the lore in this entry, but never really bore to read this damn bible (even forgot this was a thing) but i appreciate just "kinda knowing" the story, i don't know, the mystery makes it charming (something illusion of gaia shares, of all games). i'm not sure if i'm being clear, though, lol anyway i'll take the humanity vs. ai instead of this overdone evil space empire thing any day. thunder force 6 was...weird and sad, to sum it up. i remember visiting tecnosoft's website around 2000-something and there was this notice about they closing up and all. it's ok if we just get this re-releases though, i'd buy thunder force 5 (again) from day one.

Playing Thunder force 3 right now on the genesis mini. It takes awhile but I eventually got to the 4the level with continues. It is brutal though at least for me and I haven’t been able to finish the game as a straight play through without saving. You do get better the more you play and it seems like it gets a little easier the more you play and it’s fun so I guess there’s that at least lol. That final boss gonna take me awhile. Those moving blocks are crazy. It does seem like an arcade game made for eating quarters 😂

IMO its a bad introductory level RPG. It should have started very simple but gotten more complex then it did by the end. Add things like buying weapons and gear, decisions where upgrades have different costs and benefits. Plus more spells and consumables, and some permanent party members that level up and can have their gear upgraded later in the game. Just do it slowly so the newbies don't get overwhelmed.

I e always been a 5 fan. People say it’s just for the job class system, but they miss everything else. The characters are just so fun, and it’s in contrast to a plot where they are just always loosing, but growing with each other because of it. Honestly, I replayed 4 recently, and the love of it just seems like nostalgia compared to 5.

I think they're both still very good games. I just wanted to defend V's place in the era of FFs IV started since it gets dismissed as "not as story heavy" for some reason.

took long enough to have a brazilian character. snk was kinda huge in here during the 90s, we even had this 3, 2-store building dedicated to snk games (if my memory doesn't trick me, i saw it on the back of a local gaming magazine every now and then and yeah, of course it was in são paulo).

I don't think you've missed anything other than knowing a little bit on how T.O.P. gauge works. But yeah, it's a nice FG. I just have some qualms on how it doesn't let you do some nice combos and it seems kind of difficult to know your BnBs, but that's just because I have more experience with anime fighters. By the way, did you know there were proximity normals? Now you know!

Those of us who grew up during the heyday of NES/SNES-era Final Fantasy appreciated FFIV as one of the greatest RPGs of its time. RPG fans like me, who rented (we couldn't afford to buy) games like Paladin's Quest, The 7th Saga, Breath of Fire, Earthbound, and other games usually took it a step further when it came to Final Fantasy. After all, the first game introduced many of us to the genre. I'd played Hydlide and some other games, but Final Fantasy offered character immersion (we got to select and name our characters!) unlike anything we'd previously seen. Final Fantasy IV marked a vast improvement in graphics, storyline, character arcs, and more. We didn't get to select our characters' classes, but something as simple as giving them names made us feel closer to them. For me, it was always my school friends and (occasionally) pets who would undertake adventures. Of course, FFVI made FFIV look like a fairly simple game, much like IV had made the original. Unbeknownst to us, there were another FFII and FFIII, along with an FFV, which served as steppingstones to the two SNES games we got stateside. I haven't played FFV for a while and will start the Pixel Remaster version soon. After buying the Steam package, I'm at the end game of FFI and FFIV, about 1/4 of the way through FFVI, and have a couple of hours in FFII. I will say that the Boost feature on the PM versions is nice. I've been grinding away since 1990 across various versions of the games, so having the ability to level up and collect gil just a bit faster is welcome.

this looks like the real effective way to expand this game's universe, not just putting out these shovelware side story games no one really cares about. makes me have a wishful thinking, while atlus comes out with a persona 1 & 2 remakes, square actually and finally works on a brand new final fantasy 6 adaptation. the concept art is stunning, as much as the pixel/sprite work was great back then, it would be absolutely amazing to finally see it fully 3d and immersible. final fantasy 6 absolutely deserves that...i just don't think it's that popular, though.
@kjh4496

Lol “expand the games universe”. Literally fan fiction nonsense and the majority of fans agree and didn’t buy Rebirth because of how much of an insult it is to FF7. Rebirth was a commercial flop and it speaks volumes. 😂
