I just got a cad admin job in Houston. Never done it before have no idea what I’m doing really these videos have helped but I still have questions. Do you have a beginners book you’ve read? Is there a class that you would recommend? I was bumped up as an internal transfer and my employer knows I have zero experience. Any help would be great.

If you do not have a purchased/licensed copy of Navisworks, and only have the free version of Navisworks, unfortunately I do not know a way to convert it to native Navisworks file. BUT, a work-aruond is AutoCAD can export to the .dwfx format, and Navisworks Freedom will read that file format.

what version of cadworx you use with autocad 2022 ? , as far as I know cadworx works with autocad 2020 and old versions ?

The current CadWorx version 2020.R2.SP1 works with AutoCad 2022. Hexagon has traditionally released an update about this time of year to work with the next version of AutoCad, so I am anticipating moving up to AutoCad 2023 in the next month or so if/when they release an update.

Found that if you set the branch connection to "StubIn" in the spec, you can then add the valve by selecting the part and then the "Plus" sign (forgot the term for it), component list > stubin >component list>valve to be used. Keeps from having to add the tap.

That sounds fantastic. I tried to spend a few minutes today to see if I could get that to work, and I am not seeing a "Stub-In" option anywhere.... I probably will need to work on my catalog to add something like that....

In the spec editor, what is the end condition set for the attachment? I am guessing BW.

how do you get the cadworx properties to show up in the first place? like in the properties tab

Oh, the model has to be created with cadworx in Autocad. The computer that has Navisworks, has to have the object enable installed if it does not have Cadworx installed. . Then that computer will automatically recognize a Cadworx cad file when you import or merge the dwg into the Navisworks program.

@@glade21nds thanks, i found my issue. bricscad isnt supported by navisworks 2023 so wasnt loading in my cadworx properties.

I am hoping your question was, "Do you need cadworx 2020 to create an extended body ML gate valve?" The answer to that question is, No, I am pretty sure this has been available for quite a few versions now...
