You must don't set the auto focus before you shoot, because i vlog with it almost everday. With No problem! Also use manual focus, you will be amazed.

Dear Jan Bro. This is Jack Bro. I would humbly ask your opinion. From Bro to Bro. Ive already studied capture one a few months. I havent learnt any editing from anybody at this point. I just move the sliders as long as im happy with the result. Ive learnt to use masks, tweak colors, add grain, change white balance, so on and so on. i got ok results and i got some understanding what these different sliders do. Now my question is, would these presets help me to understand certain kind of settings for different looks? Would these presets allow me to edit furthermore the same presets, with just small tweaks? Respectfully yours Jack Bro P.S. Forgot to mention, nice content, keep on keeping on :)

I really enjoyed your video. Great to hear a different point of view. I have an S5ii but I’m thinking about getting a second camera for permanently mounting the Panasonic 16mm -35mm f4 lens. I’ve heard the focus is better on wide lenses? Any thoughts. Thanks

@janborscreative it's not as quick for sure, but as far as tracking goes and keeping you in focus it works almost as well as sonys eye detection. Would also like to add that when you shoot in aspc mode the focusing is actually faster than the sony 7aiii 🤣 as insane as that sounds i can find a video for u to refer to

@janborscreative absolutely agree with you, I just have the mark 1. But always delta with panasonics slow auto focus since the gh4 then gh5. Really wanted the the mark 2x but can't afford to buy cameras any longer 🤣. I being able to record ti an external ssd. I started to buy v60 sd cards for the panasonic s5 and dji action cameras just because of the transfer speeds, I don't like to transfer the files over to my pc or phone I tend to edit directly off the cards

fantastic dear, I is a pleasure to find your channel? what preset did you use in lightroom? Dear I confess to me LUMIX is quite unknown, just few photographers work with it. Let me ask you if you shoot in RAW or in JPEG?, Dear, would you give me an advise? Now I've got a Fujifilm X-H1 and I want to sell it and get another one (in fact I am behind another Fuji series basically for my lenses). My criterion was a lighter camera (mine is heavy, almost 700g body) and one more specialized on stills. But watching your work with this LUMIX I fell in love, full-frame, exquisite image quality and the prices are reasonable (I've just research). Should I jump to LUMIX?
@janborscreative

Heeey! Thx for writing me! I am using my own Film presets (you can buy them on my buy me a coffee, link is in the description) among more other stuff :) I shoot to raw, as I love to post produce the pictures even there are many presets and now with lumix lab also possibilities, nothing gives you such flexibility like raw. Anyway, I am dominantly doing portrait photography, so this also is part of my creative work and approach. About switching to Lumix. I always say, that camera is just a tool. I am happy with Lumix systems S5 and S5ii. I just dont need more. That can also come for you, depending on how much you want to invest. Always - new system = more money you need to spend. You need new lenses f.e. not a cheep fun. So hard to tell. I know guys, who are doing professional work on T series from fuji. There is no limit, only your approach. Thats why I use Lumix, because no one cares. Only photographers, but you are not shooting for them ever, so it does not matter :D

@@janborscreative Thanks for your time. To be honest my main reason to get this LUMIX is the full frame sensor. I grew up with SLR film cameras (and until now I still use them regularly) and with my mirrorles Fuji I sometimes miss them. Thanks for your words. Best regards

Hi Jan, do you have any suggestions for someone who became a photographer by mistake? I have a graphic design background and loves working in branding and marketing, but because there has been a lack of people on cases I have often shot the photos and videos as well as done the strategies, which have meant I have now become quite a skilled photographer and got a whole closet full of gear. Now I'm at the point where 70% of the work i get is only for photography or video, but I would like to do more branding and more conceptual design... but people keep hiring me for the things they can see rather than the strategies that is behind it.

well, I got photographer also kinda unexpected. I had my career, but sometimes you cannot continue it, regardless you would like to. That pushed me to business which I can be really my own lord. Idk what is the better option. I think to do as much possible things you can, not to have only one source of income from one side. So what you do actually is quite nice and slowly you can start switching to what you are more passionate about!

I just shot a feature film using the s5, and it became an award-winning film. To me, other than autofocus, this is the best deal out there of any camera on the market. And I actually disagree with you about autofocus, I never use it, all of my lenses are vintage lenses, and so autofocus for me is not part of my workflow. But I understand why some people like it, but for me it's meaningless. So the s5, and the fact that you could get it for $800 pretty much everywhere, is unmatched in terms of a quality hybrid camera for anyone from hobbyists to professionals.

when you dont use it, than it cannot be an issue. F.e. Using it as a stand alone shooter who also need to shoot myself, I also needed to learn properly setting up the manual but the workflow suffers and its not enjoyable. Especially when you miss it and you need to do it again after 20mminutes recording... different cases, different needs

Hi Jan, I do not agree about the auto focus issues of the S5. I have the S5 and paired it with the lumix 16-35mm S-Pro as well with the 70-200 S -Pro and the auto focus is , ok a bit slow but spot on all the time! And if I want to make something special I always use some old vintage glass with the traditional manual focus and focus peaking. Spot on as well!

I bought the S5 in November 2022 for about 1800 USD in kit with 20-60mm and 50mm. Only few months before the s5II was launched, so I was pretty mad... but then last November there was an amazing BF deal + Panasonic own cashback, where you could get s5II body for about 1300 USD. Now I use both of them for photography and even for video - s5 as a second cam on events and wedding shoots, usually it sits on a tripod with some wider lens. AF on s5 with lumix 1.8 primes is usable, as you said in the video (tested on 18,50,85). I actually love working with 1.8 S series primes on gimbal, since you don´t have to rebalance after switching between them. I cant wait for a panasonic fullframe body with no crop in 4k50 tho! (Maybe S1H mark II soon, fingers crossed)

Good tips, just a heads up! KZbin takes the timestamp next to the title as when that chapter starts and based on the next start of a chapter it figures out when it ends, meaning that you do not need to add start and end to your chapters, in fact, doing this is confusing youtube and it is making the chapters be all wonky so just add the start time of each chapter not the end.

Yeah, this was a tough one for me as well. I ended up going with the S9 over the original S5 and honestly I have no regrets. Yes, the S9 has a record limitation versus the 30 minutes on the S5 but I’m not really concerned at that level. The S9 is surprisingly an extremely fun every day carry camera. I also put the Atomos Ninja V on top of the S9 to use as an additional camera angle for Long Takes so it’s like having multiple cameras in one. Honestly this whole S Line Series is great tech.

It depends on the lens you use. The prime lens are faster which means you have to reduce the auto focus speed and if you're using the 20-60 which is slower then you have to increase the auto focus speed and increase the sensitivity by 1.
