Just learnt about this pencil! Boy is it a work of art. It is a shame that Staedtler stopped making these. This pencil goes into my list of must buy mechanical pencils. Thanks for the unpacking video and silent review! Much appreciated.

Between the F-xMD and F-701 is there any difference?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
After some research, it seems F-xMD is the slightly more premium (more durable) all metal version where as my F-701 have more plastic components

which of both lead holder do you prefer and why?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
I personally prefer the Staedtler Mars Carbon for its knurling, longer length and balance but it’s real close between the two, the Uni is good in its own way. Hope this helps

Is reg is the most expensive in steadtler ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
One of, if not the most expensive modern staedtler drafting pencil
@ishantbhardwaj2627 Жыл бұрын
Does the reg costs same in both .5 and .7 ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
back new it did cost the same, these days there is no guaranteed cost for either, both are over the original cost, should be similar though
@ishantbhardwaj2627 Жыл бұрын
I found this reg on unbuy and it was looking like a little blueish . Is it blue ??
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
It is not blue as far as I'm aware, it's probably the photo, metal sometimes don't photograph well because of the way it reflects light

Can 925 95 go up to 2mm ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
No unfortunately, the 925 25 20 has got brass internals and is 2mm though:)
@ishantbhardwaj2627 Жыл бұрын
Steadtler 925 95 doesnt have regulator ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
It doesn't have the window but it still offers the same adjustability (back new the 925 95 was 1200 yen and 85 REG was 1400 yen which is why)
@ishantbhardwaj2627 Жыл бұрын
From where can i buy it ? I want 0.7
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
They don't make them new anymore, they did make a .7 and from what i'm aware it sold a decent amount so you can probably can find one, depending on where you live, you can look for local venders or order one online from overseas (for example, I could've gotten mine locally but it worked out cheaper to order from Japan), hope this helps
@ishantbhardwaj2627 Жыл бұрын
Is this Reg available in different colours ???
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
The REG was only made in this silver, if I recall correctly the 925 95 family looks different whitest offering slightly more adjustability. If you are chasing a different look that could be an option. Another one would be Ohto Promecha (Super Promecha) of which they already announced three colours for the recent future. Hope this helps

And i could nt understand that what is its fuction of that ring that show 2b ,4b, HB ???
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
The "ring" is called a lead indicator, what it does is allow you to track the hardness (grade) of lead you put in your pencil. Hope that helps, cheers!

So ultimatly Reg is the best in line up of all series of steadtler ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
In my opinion, yes, really depends on what you value and is looking for, and for me the 925 85 REG is perfect
@liukang7617 Жыл бұрын
Is steadtler 925 25 20 metal or plastic ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
The 925 25 20 is metal, with a brass clutch (which is good)
@liukang7617 Жыл бұрын
Is Steadtler 925 25 20 silver series better than this REG model ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
I my opinion no, the REG was the top of the line 1400 yen drafting pencil in the long 9X5 XX series. The 925 95 which went for 1200 yen is a little more expensive used today than the REG can be argued as the best in the line up, but the 925 25 Silver series ultimately is a step down in price and target audience. Now that's just my opinion, you may prefer the 925 25 20 simply for the wider range of lead size-it being available in 2mm

On which website i can get this from ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
I am unsure which websites ship to India, I do know Amazon JP (japan) does offer a wide range of shipping options
@liukang7617 Жыл бұрын
Is it available in different colour ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
The 925 25 20 can be bought as 935 25 20 (difference being colour). Either in dark blue for the same price or "All black" for a little more expensive The 925 85 REG only comes in Silver as shown

Is it available in India ?

So this model goes up to how much mm ?
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
I think it goes up to .7mm, could be .9mm but that would be extremely rare
@liukang7617 Жыл бұрын
Is this pencil available in 2 mm
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
As far as I’m aware, no, the 925 85 Regulator models does not go up to 2mm. However, the 925 25 silver series have a 2mm option being Staedtler 925 25 20. That specific pencil have full brass clutches and is one of the best incremental advancement lead holder out there, if having a drop clutch is not an requirement, it’s a really good 2mm lead holder
@liukang7617 Жыл бұрын
What is this pencils regulating system means
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
Having a regulating system (or Regulator) allows you to adjust the amount of lead that come out each click and the window on the side shows what your current setting is
@liukang7617 Жыл бұрын
How much does this pencil costs in INR ? Rupees
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
I didn’t get mine in India, but if I convert to INR it was around 3000 Rupees, the typical price where I live is higher than that, but I’m sure you can find a good deal if you look around. The original Japanese price for these new was 1400 yen (Japanese Yen). That should give you a good baseline to determine if a price is fair
@liukang7617 Жыл бұрын
Is this pencil better than steadtler mars 780 .
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
In my opinion, yes, it is better. Ultimately though, the 780 is a traditional lead holder typically used for art and the 925 85 is a more contemporary of a mechanical pencil that’s more designed drafting

Can be exchanged? I can't afford now the staedtler lead but l found special price for the Uni 2.0mm leads, Can l use them in my staedtler 2.0mm lead holder??
@dumbhours Жыл бұрын
I just went and tried it. The Uni lead come with a plastic end piece you will have to break off before inserting into the Staedtler lead holder. The end piece is tiny, you'll be left with a pretty much full sized lead. Once end piece is gone you will be left with a standard 2mm lead which should work with every lead holder. In short yes, but you'll have to break off the very tail end of the Uni lead. Let me know if this makes sense, best of lucks!
@lippa21054 ай бұрын
The Staedtler lead is a 12 pack, that's why it's a bit pricier than other brands. A 12 pack of lead should last quite a long time.

Why are these types of mechanical pencils so expensive?
@dumbhours2 жыл бұрын
These mechanical pencils are know as drafting pencils, in the old days typically used for drafting (technical drawings) or art. These days there is less of a demand for pencils in those fields with computers. Drafting pencil in general are a little more expensive for tighter tolerances. This specific pencil is special because it was only produced for less than 20 years (no longer in production) and only 3 manufactures has done anything similar. The REG window on this specific pencil is unique in all mechanical pencils. So it's expensive because it's unique and haven't been in production.
