If that's Northern Soul, my name is Major Lance. Its plastic pap, as bad as Joe 90!
@westwiltssoulclub36924 ай бұрын
I'd agree, but it's been quite popular in the south at rare soul events for some years now. FWIW I don't play it out as I have far better records.

There are lots of such bits of crap being played at venues by DJ's, and the excuse is always, someone else is playing it, and people dance to it. A large part of the justification for this particularly record is that it was introduced, originally, by my old friend Keith Minshull. In the early 70's, I spent a lot of time with Keith at The Torch, and in Bewes record shop, and in the early 80's, spent a lot of time with him, listening to records, many of which I bought, in his bedroom at his parents house. But, like many DJ's, in the era when it became the thing to just find new records that people would dance to, a whole load of crap was introduced, to which I again cite Joe90, which Keith also played on some occasions. In fact, Joe90 is better, because its at least real musicians rather than sampled, computer generated mush. Still its better than the godawful "These Boots Are made For Walking" that has been polluting some events.@@westwiltssoulclub3692

@@chowyunfatno1fan ah that’s amazing! We’re in the uk and there’s been a rare soul scene here since the late 1960s - very much underground & fan led with events everywhere of soul fans playing underplayed tunes.
